He launched his career by working for Jim Rohn, the late author and motivational speaker, promoting his seminars, and in his early 20s Tony became a practitioner of Ericksonian hypnosis and neurolinguistic programming, and was also taught how to firewalk.

He then became a motivational speaker himself, and in 1988 created “Personal Power”, his first self-help program. He is interested in sports, and in 2014 bought rights to start a Major League Soccer club with several other investors, which started competing in 2018. Together with Peter Guber and Ted Leonsis, he also purchased the eSports gaming organization Team Liquid in 2016, and it went on to win The International 7 Dota 2 Tournament for around $24 million.

Tony launched the Anthony Robbins Foundation in 1991, which aims to help the homeless, the elderly and the hungry.
