Matthew Trebek stands at 5ft 10ins (1.78m) tall, while he weighs approximately 150lbs ~ 68kgs. He has dark brown eyes and green eyes.

Born George Alexander Trebek on the 22nd July 1940 in Sudbury, Ontario; he is the son of George Edward Trebek and Lucille Lagace. Of Ukrainian and Franco-Ontarian ancestry, he became a naturalized US citizen in 1998. He went to Sudbury High School and later enrolled at the University of Ottawa. He obtained a degree in philosophy in 1961, but during his university years he became interested in broadcast news, and it even before he finished university, Alex started his career at CBC.

Working with CBC during his university days, at one time or another he was an announcer on every show, replacing its regulars.

His career as a television host really started in 1963, when he was made the host of the show “Music Hop”. This lasted for a year, before he moved on to other shows, including “CBC Championship Curling”, and “Reach for the Top”, an academic quiz competition for high school students. Alex Trebek Personal Life, Health Problems
Before marrying Matthew’s mother, Alex was married to a businesswoman, Elaine Callei from 1974 until 1981. They didn’t have children, though Alex became the adoptive father of her daughter Nicky, from her marriage to Louis Callei.
Alex married Jean Currivan in 1990 and three years after Matthew, they welcomed a daughter, Emily.
In March 2019, Alex was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer; he has undergone the treatment, and has recently suspended the show, due to the coronavirus as Alex is in a risk group.
Even before pancreatic cancer, Alex had experienced several health problems, including a few mild heart attacks, and a subdural hematoma which was a result of a fall.
He has supported several humanitarian organizations and movements, which includes a donation of $100,000 to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter in Los Angeles.
