Helen was raised an only child in Miami by her father who was a lawyer, and her mother who was an accountant. Although she dreamed of becoming an actress, her parents urged her to focus on obtaining her college degree.

Helen attended Miami Coral Park High School at which she became interested in modelling and designing clothes, and upon matriculation in 1998, she enrolled at St. Thomas University from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2002.
