Early life and education

Jodi was raised alongside three siblings in Jamaica by her father who worked on construction sites, and her mother who was a housewife. She became interested in music while attending elementary school, as most of her friends were listening to rap songs between classes, and she started working on her skills as a video jockey (VJ) while attending high school.

Jodi was physically very active at high school, as she played several sports including soccer and tennis, and she was also running track for the school’s team – it was at the age of 16 that she had the opportunity to have a tour around a popular TV station, and saw how video jockeys worked.

After matriculation in 2000, Jodi didn’t enroll at a college, but started working on her way up in the TV industry.

Career as a TV show host and VJ

Jodi began with reggae music, and worked for several web hosting companies which helped her become recognized in Jamaica. She started working at RETV in March 2004, and stayed with them for the following 10 years, during which she also travelled around US, as it was necessary for her job.

Today, Jodi is working as the host of two Jamaican reality TV shows, but her career hasn’t really hit the spotlight, because she’s somewhat in the shadow of her husband, very popular in the field of rap music.

Who is Sean Paul?

Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques was born in Kingston, Jamaica on 9 January 1973 – his zodiac sign is Capricorn. He is a rapper, record producer and a singer, perhaps best known for his two singles “Temperature” and “Get Busy”, both of which reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart.

Sean was raised an only child in Kingston by his father Garth who was a water polo player and his mother who was a painter. Most of his family members are swimmers – his grandfather played water polo for the Jamaican national team, while his mother was a butterfly swimmer. At the age of 13 after being taught by his father for five years, Sean started playing water polo for the Jamaican national team, but quit at the age of 21 to focus on his singing career.

He studied at Wolmer’s Boys’ School, and upon matriculation in 1991 enrolled at the College of Arts, Science and Technology, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.

Sean performed at an open mic event held in Kingston, and after the music producer Jeremy Harding heard about him, he invited Sean to record a vocal over his track which became the song “Baby Girl”. Sean started going to the studio every day, and recorded a few other tracks before he made his official debut on the radio. He also launched his acting career in 1998, when he made a cameo appearance in the movie “Belly”.

On 24 January 2012, Sean’s new album was released entitled “Tomahawk” (it was released in the USA eight months later) and several songs from it became hits, including “Got 2 Luv U” and “She Doesn’t Mind”.

On 18 February 2014, his sixth studio album came out entitled “Full Frequency” – the lead single “What About Us” topped the UK Charts as it sold over 100,000 digital copies in only a week. In 2015, Sean was featured in songs of various other groups and artists, such as “Come On to Me” by the electronic band Major Lazer, and “Burn Burn” by Timaya.

In early 2016, Sean left Atlantic Records and signed a contract with Jules Dougall. On 11 February 2016, the song “Cheap Thrills” on which he collaborated with Sia was released, and it topped charts in over 15 countries including the US, France and Italy. In the summer of 2016, Sean signed a contract with Island Records, and two years later on 29 June 2018 released his extended play “Mad Love the Prequel”, with “No Lie” featuring Dua Lipa as the lead single.

Sean has won many awards during his career, including a Much Music Video Award for Best International Video (“Get Busy”); an MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act of the Year and a Source Award for Dancehall Reggae Album of the Year (“Dutty Rock”) all in 2003. He won an International Reggae and World Music Award for Entertainer of the Year (shared with Wyclef, Beenie Man and Malachi Smith) in 2005, as well as a MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act, and an American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist in 2006. He won his most recent awards in 2013: a Youth View Award for Favorite Local International Artiste of the Year, a Star Award for Album of the Year (“Tomahawk Technique”) and a MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act.
