Julian was raised by his mother Laurie Holmond, while his father kept his extramarital son a secret, but gave money to Laurie to raise him. His father married Shante Taylor, his high school sweetheart, on 12 June 1997 – Shante gave birth to their three children – Corde on 21 August 1994, Cordell on 21 February 1997 and Cori on 22 June 1999. On 21 May 2004, Snoop Dogg filed for divorce.

Snoop Dogg smokes cannabis on a daily basis, and although he said he quit in 2002, he came back to it and today smokes around 80 blunts every day.
