Troy Kenneth Aikman, professionally known as Troy Aikman is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He helped the team win three Super Bowls Championships and was named MVP of Super Bowl XXVII. He was selected first overall by the Cowboys in 1989 and finished his 12-year career as a 6-time Pro Bowl selection. He was offered a contract with the MLB’s New York Mets but turned it down to play college football at Oklahoma and then UCLA. Troy retired with 31,726 career passing yards and 165 touchdowns. Since retiring in 2000, he has served as a television sportscaster for the Fox network. He is also a member of both the college and pro football halls of fame as well as he was a former joint owner of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing team Hall of Fame Racing.

- Troy Aikman kicks off his career becoming the first freshman to start at quarterback for Oklahoma since World War II in 1984 whereas his first full season as a collegiate starter, he led the Sooners to victories over Minnesota, Kansas State, and #17 Texas in the Red River Shootout in 1987 before losing to the Miami Hurricanes as he left the game with a broken ankle.
- He had been six of eight passing for 131 yards, would be lost for the season. The team went on to win the 1985 National Championship and with Holieway established as the starting quarterback at OU, Aikman decided to transfer to UCLA.
UCLA Bruins
- Troy had to sit out one year due to college transfer rules but went on to lead the Bruins to a 20-4 record over two seasons however he earned the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year as a junior and led the Bruins to a 10-2 record and the 1987 Aloha Bowl.
- Then as a senior, he won the 1988 Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s top quarterback as well as he was a Consensus All-American after which he finished third in voting for the 1988 Heisman Trophy.

- On 26th August 1989, he played his first NFL preseason game against the Denver Broncos and his NFL debut started with a 28-0 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
- He threw for 379 yards to set an NFL rookie record in a game against the Arizona Cardinals and finished 1989 with a 0-11 record as a starter, completing 155 of 293 passes for 1,749 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions.
- He also led the Cowboys to a 6-4 record in the first 10 games in 1991 and had the Cowboys ahead in week 12 against undefeated Washington Redskins when he was injured.
- As well, he set career highs in completions (302), passing yards (3,445), and touchdown passes (23), and led the Cowboys to a team record 13 regular-season victories and the second-best record in the NFC in 1992.
