Early life and education
Heather was raised in Buffalo an only child, by her mother who was a nurse at a private clinic, and her father who was a real estate agent.
She became interested in weather at a very early age, becomings amazed by how it changes, as well as curious about what causes rain, snow and even hurricanes and earthquakes.

Heather went on to enroll at a local high school, at which she was interested in practicing posing in front of a camera, which is mostly why she was a member of the school’s drama club, and appeared in many plays performed there. After matriculation in 1985, she enrolled at the University of Minnesota from which she graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism in 1989, then Heather enrolled at Plymouth State University, from which she obtained her Master’s degree in meteorology in 1991.
Career as a meteorologist
Heather launched her career five years after obtaining her Master’s degree, working as an on-camera meteorologist for the network WCCO-TV, staying with them until late 1998 when she was offered a position with TWC. She had to move to Atlanta in Georgia to work for TWC, in the position of an on-camera meteorologist (one of many who worked for TWC). Heather appeared on TWC for the first time in January 1999, and while she was mainly in charge of doing live-air work, she also produced animal welfare and pet cat stories and appeared in these.
She stayed with TWC for almost 14 years, when in 2012 they let her go after the company was sold to three companies which decided to cut the workforce.
In January 2016, Heather joined the network WXIA-TV as their freelance meteorologist and stayed with them for the next four years before quitting in December 2019.
In November 2016, Heather released her book “HairDoodle by Heather Tesch: A Calming and Brain-Building Adult Doodle and Coloring Book” which has received ten 5-star ratings on Amazon.
Since early 2017, Heather has been working as a part-time meteorologist at The Weather Company, an IBM Business (former TWC). When she was let go, the company was owned by NBCUniversal, Bain Capital and the Blackstone Group, and the three companies sold the already renamed The Weather Company to IBM on 29 January 2016, however, they remained the owners of TWC cable network until early March 2018, when it was sold to Entertainment Studios.
Love life and husband
Heather is one of those people who prefer to keep their personal matters to themselves, and hasn’t shared any details concerning her love life, however, it is known that she is a married woman, and it’s believed that she met her other half while attending Plymouth State University, and that they married sometime in the 2000s. Heather is the mother of their two children, but has been keeping their names as well as her husband’s hidden from the media, as to give them an opportunity to lead a normal and private life.
She hasn’t talked about any men she might have dated before meeting her husband, but was once allegedly in a long-term relationship with her high school sweetheart, and it is rumored that the two were also engaged before they decided to call everything off for unknown reasons.
As of November 2020, Heather is married and has two children.
Hobbies and other interests
Heather’s main hobby is volunteering at a local animal shelter, and urging people to adopt animals rather than to buy them.
She has spoken live on-air on various occasions about her love for animals, as well as advising people concerning animal safety and pet adoption – one time when a tornado hit Ringgold in Georgia, Heather found several kittens and fostered them, while one of these kittens is today still living with her, and she has four other cats and a lizard.
She is today working as a columnist for the Orange County Post, and is writing about life, pets and weather – Heather is also keen on helping people, and has taken part in several charitable events.
She enjoys watching movies in her spare time, and her favorite actors and actresses are Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, while a few of her favorite movies are “Titanic”, the franchise “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, and “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.

Heather’s age is 53. She has long blonde hair and blue eyes, her height is 5ft 2ins (1.57m) and she weighs around 110lbs (50kgs).
