Everything you could want to know about television personality Victoria Coren Mitchell

Those who know of Victoria Coren Mitchell will likely know of her for one of three things, her television career, her poker prowess, or her husband, the comedian David Mitchell. Whatever reason you know her, she’s a powerhouse of a woman with an incredible career already spanning some of the most challenging sectors. We’re going to find out everything you could possibly want to know about her right here.

Early Life

Born on the 18th of August 1972, Victoria Elizabeth Coren was the only daughter of the family. Her proud parents were Alan Coren, a journalist and Anne Kasriel, a homemaker. Victoria grew up in North London alongside her brother Giles Coren. Interestingly, Victoria’s father was a well-respected journalist and when he grew up, so too was her brother Giles Coren, so it’s little surprise that one of Victoria’s careers is in writing too.

In order to get her to the career that she had now, she needed an excellent education. Initially she enrolled at St Paul’s Girls’ School, before moving on to a couple of other Girls’ schools until she’d completed her secondary education. During her early studies, teachers noticed that Victoria had a flair for language and encouraged her hugely. At the age of just 14, she had her first short story published in Just Seventeen magazine and shortly after that won a competition to write a column for The Daily Telegraph. It came as no surprise to anybody when Victoria elected to read English at St John’s College in Oxford.

Career

After an early start in writing, Victoria carried on her success. One of her most notable early works came when she chose to adapt a newspaper column into a play. The column was by the great John Diamond and she entitled the play ‘A Lump In My Throat’. It went on to be performed during the Edinburgh Festival where it was such a success that she was asked to adapt it once more for television. The broadcast went out in 2001 for the BBC, which is where Victoria’s relationship with the BBC truly began.

Since then she has done a great deal of work in television. Beginning with Balderdash and Piffle, a show which asked questions from those who entered words into the Oxford English Dictionary to the Great British Public. Only Connect was her next big hit, a quiz show for lateral thinkers that she’s hosted from 2008 until the present day. She also acted as a guest host in QI, a quirky quiz show with a panel made up of comedians, for seven years. Beyond this she’s been a constant presence as a panelist, contestant and guest on numerous other television shows, not to mention her lengthy career working with radio one.

As well as being a television presenter, Victoria has also made something of a career out of her poker prowess. As well as playing in physical tournaments all over the world, Victoria also plays online poker, known in Thailand asโป๊กเกอร์ออนไลน์,from time to time to keep her skills sharp. With poker being such a readily available game all over the world, it’s a great hobby for those who want to be able to enjoy their hobby as they travel. AsiaBet, for example, compiles exhaustive lists of all of the casinos that are available to play on the Asian continent. They include information on the variety of games available, as well as any regulations that players should be aware of on a country by country basis. If you’d like to find out more about Victoria’s poker-based adventures then her book ‘Confessions of a Player’ was released in 2009 and details all kinds of fascinating stories from her time spent at the table.

Husband

Victoria tied the knot with her husband in 2012

Naturally Victoria was not going to settle for just any man, so it makes sense that she married the famous actor and comedian David Mitchell. They first met in 2007 at a film premiere and David tried over the course of several dates to ‘woo’ her, but to no avail. It wouldn’t be until 2010 that the pair met again and properly started dating. In 2012 the two were married and just three years later they welcomed their first child to the world.
