He started playing soccer for the local club FC Phonix Otterbach in 2004. From 2009-2016, he played for the youth system of Major League Soccer side FC Dallas for seven years. In August 2016, he joined the youth team of Bundesliga club Schalke 04. In May 2017, he was promoted to the first-team squad and made his professional debut on 20 May 2017. On August 29, 2020, he joined Serie A club Juventus on a year-long loan and became Juventus’ first player and Serie A’s fifth from the United States.
