Sara hasn’t shared a lot of details about her childhood, except that she had a dream to become a flight attendant, and that she spent nine summers in summers camps (and enjoyed them).

Educational background

In 2009 Sara matriculated from her local high school within the top 4% of her class, partly, she says, because she didn’t smoke or drink at school, and was fully focused on her education. In 2013 Sara graduated from Auburn University with a BA in Radio, Television and Film.

Career

Life before the fame

Sara started working as a news reporter at WWAY News Channel 3 in August 2014, developing her career in the sphere of television broadcasting. At the beginning of 2015 she appointed the Director of Special Projects, and also began working as an on-air host.

The same year she started posting her videos on the Vine application, which was quite popular that year. She soon started getting more and more subscribers, and eventually found it hard to balance between her online activities and full-time job.

Social media career

At the beginning of 2016 Sara understood that this was too hard taking all of her energy – ‘I was calling my mom every day on the hour every hour, going back and forth. It was such a struggle. I was mentally and emotionally torn because that’s why I had gone to school for and trained for and paid all the big bucks to Auburn University for’, Sara shared in her interview to AOL. Her biggest fear was to not use her degree after getting it, as one doesn’t need to be an Auburn graduate to be a Viner.

However, in March 2016 she quit her job on TV to fully focus on her social media career, developing her Vine account, YouTube channel and Instagram profile at the same time.

At the end of 2016, she became one of the Shorty Awards finalists, ending as runner-up in the category “Snapchatter of the Year”, as Sara was an active user of the Snapchat app. By the time the Vine app was shut down, she had more than 950,000 subscribers, which was a true shock for Sara who quit her job to create content for the mobile app, but she had no regrets, then focusing on other social media platforms.

As of 2020, Sara has more than 230,000 subscribers on her Instagram account and more than 65,000 followers on her personal YouTube channel. While she is not very consistent with creating content for the latter, she is very active on her Instagram profile, having multiple contracts with various brands and companies, collaborating with Starbucks, Amazon, Warner Brothers, Target, etc, but saying that her most exciting project is her collaboration with Coke.

Sara now has another contract with Wellements, a company which provides supplements and organic products for newborns and toddlers. Becoming a mom granted Sara more opportunities to get commercial contracts with companies which provides various gadgets, supplies and services for kids and parents.

Television career

Sara tried herself as an actress, appearing in two episodes of the TV series “Secrets and Lies” in 2015, as she landed the role of the reporter for “The Trail” and “The Father”. The fun fact about her career on the screen is that she didn’t even know she would be in a movie, yet she was caught by the camera in one of the scenes filmed for “Broken Bridges” in 2006, starring Toby Keith, Willie Nelson and Burt Reynolds. She was sitting in the audience of the hall, and she is pretty sure it was a pure accident she got into the frame.

Personal life, husband Robert Ayala

Sara started dating another Viner, Robert “Robby” Ayala, in 2015, and the couple became engaged at the beginning of 2017. Robby wanted to propose underwater, but Sara’s father asked him not to do so, because he was sure that Sara would spit the regulator out of her mouth, so Robby ‘kept it simple’ and proposed on the beach during the sunset. On 31 December 2016 Robby got down on one knee and asked Sara the question, but she couldn’t even respond as she was crying, and people around them wondered if Sara was about to say: ‘No’, and Robby was still on his knee. Eventually, Sara answered: ‘Yes!’. The only thing Sara and Robby regret of is that they didn’t have any pictures from their engagement, as their friend, who was supposed to come to them on that vacation to Roatan, Honduras, became pregnant and was scared of the Zika virus, so she stayed home.

Sara and Robby married in November 2017. Robby is also an Internet personality who had more than 3.5 million subscribers on the Vine app. He also has his personal YouTube channel and is quite popular on Instagram.

Giving birth to her first son, Aidan Joaquin Ayala

Sara gave birth to her first child, Aidan Joaquin Ayala, on 10 September 2019, then made multiple posts on her Instagram account admitting she suffered from Postpartum Depression. She revealed that only proper medicine and therapy helped her to get out of the hell she felt, wanting the day to end before it even began: ‘I’ve been flooded with feelings of guilt, anxiety, inadequacy and emptiness all while having this crippling, overwhelming love for this new life. Postpartum depression is a beast’, she wrote on the National Mental Health Day.

Sara also thinks that the birth trauma of her son influenced her state. Her son’s head was a bit flat after the manipulations during the birth-giving process, so the doctor designed a special helmet for Aidan to help gradually reshape the skull. Sara and Robby also wore similar fake helmets to cheer up their son and to show him that there was nothing to be ashamed of while wearing such a helmet.
