Who is C. Thomas Howell?

American actor Christopher Thomas Howell was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 7 December 1966, making Sagittarius his zodiac sign. He’s had roles in more than 220 TV series and movies, but is probably still known best for playing the lead character Ponyboy Curtis in the 1983 crime movie “The Outsiders”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and which also starred Matt Dillon and Ralph Macchio. It follows the rivalry between the Socs and Greasers gangs, and the movie won one of its five award nominations.

Thomas is still today highly active in the movie industry, and is currently working on four upcoming projects, which include the movies “Old Dads” and “Reagan”, as well as the series “Obliterated”.

Thomas was raised in Los Angeles alongside his brother John and sisters Candy and Stacy, by their mother Candice and father Christopher N; their father was a rodeo performer and stunt co-ordinator, while their mother was a housewife. Christopher and Candice divorced before Thomas turned 10.

He grew up wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps, and was a rodeo star in his early teens, while he also dreamed about becoming a stuntman. Thomas enrolled at Saugus High School in 1980, and made his debut film appearance two years later, playing Tyler in the evergreen family science fiction adventure movie “E. The year 1993 saw him play Lieutenant Thomas D. Chamberlain in the critically acclaimed historical war drama “Gettysburg”, written and directed by Ron Maxwell, and which starred Tom Berenger, Martin Sheen and Stephen Lang. The 2000s then saw Thomas appear in an episode of only a couple of series, including the comedy “Son of the Beach”, the crime comedy “The District” and the drama “Summerland”.

From 2015 through 2017, he played Daniel Stinger in the popular crime science fiction “Stitchers”, which Jeff Schechter created, and which starred Ritesh Rajan, Kyle Harris and Emma Ishta. It follows a young woman who’s begun working for a secret government organization which can look into the minds of the recently deceased – the series was nominated for four awards.

Thomas’ three most recent TV series roles have been in the 2021 episode “Dead and Breakfast/Pesticide” of the fantasy mystery horror “Creepshow”, three episodes of the 2021 horror thriller “The Walking Dead” and 12 episodes of the 2022 war action “SEAL Team”.

Thomas met Canadian-American actress Rae Dawn Chong on the set of the 1986 comedy movie “Soul Man”, and they married on 11 July 1989, but divorced a year later.

Thomas’ second wife was non-celebrity American Sylvie Anderson; they exchanged vows on 25 July 1992. She gave birth to their daughter Isabelle Howell on 17 February 1993, son Dashiell Howell on 2 January 1997, and their second son Liam Howell followed on 24 April 2001; Sylvie filed for divorce in 2015, and it was finalized in 2016.
