Who is Wendi Nix?
Wendi Nix is an American sports commentator, television reporter and an anchor, who is probably most widely recognized for currently serving as the host of one of the ESPN’s best rated broadcasts, the studio show fully dedicated to the National Football League (NFL), entitled “NFL Life”.
Early Life and Education
Wendi Nix was born under the zodiac sign of Virgo on the 17th September 1974, in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina USA, and is of American nationality and white ethnicity.
While attending Socastee High School, from which she matriculated in 1992, she was a member of its track and field team as well as a cheerleader. She later transferred to Cranford, New Jersey, where she continued her education at Union County College, after which she enrolled at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, from which she graduated in 1996 earning her bachelor’s degree, majoring in Economics and French language – she was also the captain of its golf team. The final highlight of her educational background is the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, from which she obtained a master’s degree in sports management in 1997.
Career
Wendi began her professional career in 1999 when she joined the ABC’s affiliated TV station WPDE-TV in Florence, South Carolina, for which she served as a reporter, covering not only news but high school sports and NASCAR racing as well. After honing her skills there through the course of the next two years, in 2001 she moved to Watertown, Massachusetts, and joined the New England Sports Network, popularly nicknamed NESN, becoming its general reporter.
Between 2002 and 2003, Wendi served as an anchor as well as a reporter for the FOXSports New England, before being appointed as a FOXSports’ national sports reporter. In 2003 she joined Boston’s CBS’ affiliated TV station WHDH, where she worked as a sports anchor for the next three years.
In August 2006, Nix joined ESPN and was named as its reporter in charge of covering college football, and hosting its “College Football Live” broadcast.
Additionally, being an experienced golf player, between 2007 and 2010 Wendi regularly reported from the US Open, The Open Championship as well as The Masters golf tournaments. Establishing herself as a prominent reporter, she also contributed to other ESPN programs such as “College GameDay” and “SportsCenter”. As a member of the “Monday Night Football” team, in 2009 Nix served as the host of its “Chalk Talk” segments. Later that year, she became the first woman ever to be named as the Master of Ceremony for the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-American Awards event.
Alongside Chris Berman, between 2014 and 2016, Wendi Nix served as a co-host of the “Sunday NFL Countdown” program, after which she was assigned as a co-host of ESPN’s prime pro-football studio show – “NFL Life” – while since January 2018 she serves as its primary host. Throughout the playing season, she can often be seen reporting from a variety of NFL, events such as the Draft, Scouting Combine and the SuperBowl as well.
Apart the abovementioned, Nix occasionally appears as a guest analyst of the WHDH’s weekend show “Sports Extra”.
Personal Life
Despite her popularity and regular on-screen appearances, there aren’t that many details about Wendi’s personal life. However, what is known that she was previously married to her college sweetheart, an American baseball executive, Ben Cherington, who is recognized for serving as the General Manager of the Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays and most recently the Pittsburgh Pirates. Prior to their divorce in 2010, the couple welcomed two daughters. The reasons behind their split have never been publicly disclosed.
In January 2015, Nix sparked rumors which claimed that she is currently married to the founder of the Chicago Research and Trading, and the head of the Fox River Partners Joseph ‘Joe’ Ritchie, after wishing him a happy birthday through her Twitter account. Although she used the word ‘husband’ in her tweets on several occasions in 2016 and 2017, as these rumors were never officially confirmed and as she has never revealed the identity of her chosen one, the whole ‘issue’ is still wrapped in mystery.
The 46-year-old ‘beauty of ESPN‘ Wendi Nix sports a toned body with a genuine hourglass-shaped silhouette, standing 5ft 10ins (1.78 m) tall and weighing around 140lbs (63kgs), with her vital statistics measuring 35-24-35.
