Who is French Stewart?

Milton French-Stewart was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA, on 20 February 1964 – his zodiac sign is Pisces and he holds American nationality. French is an actor, probably best known for his portrayal of Harry Solomon in the science fiction sitcom “3rd Rock from the Sun” which was created by Bonnie and Terry Turner and starred John Lithgow, Jane Curtin and Kristen Johnston. The story follows four aliens who take human forms after coming to Earth, and while it aired from 1996 to 2001, the series won 36 awards including two Golden Globes, while it was nominated for 74 others.

For his performance in the series, French and his colleagues were nominated for three Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. in 1997, ‘98 and ‘99.

Where is he now and what is he doing today?

There have been rumors circulating the internet that French might have retired from acting, however, he is still very active in the film industry. and is currently shooting for two upcoming movies – he will star in the comedy “Never Too Late”, written by Donald Martin and Harrison Powell, and he will also appear in the thriller “A Fall from Grace” which will star David Lynch, Vincent D’Onofrio and Forest Whitaker.

Early life and education

French was raised in Albuquerque as an only child by his stepfather, who was a microfilm technician and his mother who was a housewife – spending most of his free time with his stepfather, French became interested in acting at a very early age.

He started appearing in school plays while attending Del Norte High School, and soon had a chance to appear in plays performed at a local theatre. He went on to attend West Texas University located in Canyon, but after only two semesters decided to switch to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre acts in 1986.

French subsequently appeared in numerous plays, and received his Screen Actors Guild Card after he played Yogi Bear in the play “Shakey Quakey Tour”.

Roles in series

French has appeared in around 115 movies and TV series, and we are going to mention some of his most notable performances in this article.

He made his debut TV series appearance in 1992, when he portrayed the supporting character Razor Dee in the sitcom “The New WKRP in Cincinnati” which was created by Hugh Wilson and which starred Gordon Jump, Frank Bonner and Richard Sanders in the story which follows the lives of people working at a struggling radio station.

In 1994 he appeared in a single episode of the sitcom “Seinfeld” portraying The Manager, and three years later, French appeared as Stu in the episode “Caroline and the Long Shot” of the sitcom “Caroline in the City”.

He was praised for his voicing performance when he voiced one of the lead characters, Icarus in “Disney’s Hercules: The Animated Series” which got him nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program. His next main role was when he voiced Bob Alman in the animated sitcom “God, the Devil and Bob”, and in 2001 French guest starred in two episodes of the critically acclaimed sitcom “That ‘70s Show”.

The following years saw French appear in only one or two episodes of many series, such as the legal comedy “Ally McBeal” in 2002, the sitcom “Less Than Perfect” in 2003 and the following year in the procedural forensics drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”. In 2006, French starred as Stewart in the sitcom “Misconceptions”, and was then invited to play the main character Principal Delahey in the series “Subs”, but which wasn’t picked up by any network. He went on to take part in single episodes of series such as the animated “Phineas and Ferb” in which he voiced Gaston Le Mode” in 2008, the comedy series “Imagination Movers” in 2009, and the teen sitcom “True Jackson, VP” in 2010.

French played Principal Cameron in four episodes of the sitcom “The Middle” in 2014, and then portrayed the main character Chef Rudy in the sitcom “Mom”, created by Chuck Lorre, Gemma Baker and Eddie Gorodetsky.

Three of his most recent roles in series have been in the episode “Knee Deep” of the sitcom “Roseanne” in 2018, two episodes of the series “Deadly Class” and the episode “The Charity Mugger” of the comedy “No Good Nick” both in 2019.

Roles in movies

French made his debut film appearance in 1994, when he portrayed Lieutenant Louis Ferretti in the science fiction adventure movie “Stargate”, written by Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, and which starred Kurt Russell, James Spader and Jaye Davidson.

The story follows a teleportation device found in Egypt which leads people to another planet inhabited by creatures which resemble humans – the film won six awards and was nominated for six others.

French then played Dennis in the independent comedy movie “Glory Daze”, plus supporting characters in several movies, such as the fantasy adventure comedy film “Magic Island” in 1995, the action thriller movie “Broken Arrow” in 1996, and the military comedy film “McHale’s Navy” in 1997. He went on to star as Obie in the animated adventure comedy movie “Bartok the Magnificent” in 1999, before acting alongside Bridgette Wilson and Bill Bellamy in the dark comedy movie “Love Stinks”.

A few of his following roles were in the movie “Murder at the Cannes Film Festival” in 2000, the family comedy film “Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House” and the science fiction action movie “Clockstoppers” both in 2002.

French was praised for his portrayal of the lead character Inspector Gadget in the action comedy movie “Inspector Gadget 2”, and for his performance was nominated for a DVD Exclusive Award for Best Actor in a DVD Premiere Movie. He appear in supporting roles in several movies before playing another lead character, Officer Jim Conrad in the independent thriller movie “Surveillance”, and was nominated for a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.

A couple of French’s most recent roles in movies have been in the film “Christopher George Gardner: A life in Drinking The Knoxville Years” in 2012, the comedy “30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and the comedy “Rain from Stars” in 2013.

Love life and relationships

French has been married two times. He met actress Katherine LaNasa while they were shooting for the same series in 1996, and two years later on 19 May 1998, they married in a private ceremony attended by their closest friends and family. Katherine is today perhaps best known for her roles in the comedy movie “The Campaign”, and the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day”.

The two were married for 11 years before Katherine left French for Grant Show, a popular American actor.

He met Vanessa Claire Steward in 2009 at a party, and started dating a few days later – Vanessa is an actress, writer and a movie producer, who is best known for her roles in movies “Alex & The List” and “Girls! Girls! Girls!” In June 2013, Vanessa gave birth to her and French’s daughter Helen Claire Steward and the family of three is seemingly leading a happy life together in Los Angeles, California.

Hobbies and other interests

French is a huge fan of silent movies, and has his own collection which is said to be worth quite a lot – he also likes to watch Hollywood movies, and his favorite actors and actresses are Jim Carrey, Will Smith and Anne Hathaway, and some of his favorite movies are “Liar Liar”, “I Am Legend” and “One Day”.

He likes to drink alcohol and is currently serving as the spokesperson of Clamato which is a clam drink. French likes to travel and his career as an actor has made it possible for him to travel all around the US, while he’s also been to many European countries such as Switzerland, England and France.

French was physically active during his 20s and 30s, as he had several training sessions at the gym each week and played various sports, however, he ceased these activities at some point, but continued to follow a strict diet.

French’s age is 56. He has short brown hair and blue eyes, is 5ft 10ins (1.78m) tall and weighs around 160lbs (72kgs).

As of September 2020, his net worth has been estimated at over $6 million, a just reward for one of the most ‘in demand’ support actors.
