Childhood and education

Jennifer was raised in Houston with her four siblings, by their father who was a businessman, and mother who was a real estate agent.

She became interested in reporting at a very early age, and would come home from school pretending to be a reporter while telling her parents about what happened that day. Her interest became mote intense after she enrolled at Lamar High School and joined its radio club. After doing a lot of research, Jennifer learned that she had a big chance of making her dreams come true if she focused on her studies. After matriculating in 1998, she enrolled at the University of Houston, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2002.

Career as a journalist

Jennifer worked for several small TV stations for two years before she joined KLOL 101FM in Houston in January 2004, a commercial FM radio station owned by the broadcasting company Entercom Communications Corporation, and is the Houston Texans American Football team’s flagship Spanish-language station. Jennifer spent a year working at KLOL 101FM before she joined KABC in January 2005, and thus made the move to Los Angeles in California.

KABC-TV is the flagship station of the TV network ABC on the west coast, a part of ABC Owned Television Stations which is then a subsidiary of Walk Disney Television – it’s one of the most watched TV networks in Los Angeles, together with KTTV and KTLA. After exactly one year Jennifer quit, and worked various jobs until December 2007, when invited to work at KSBJ Radio 89.3FM as their traffic reporter, and so could be heard in their “Morning Show” – she kept the job for the following six years, while she was simultaneously working at KPRC-TV Local 2 as their anchor and traffic reporter, starting from July 2006.

KPRC-TV is an affiliate TV station of NBC and is owned by Graham Media Group which is then a subsidiary of Graham Holdings Company. Jennifer worked at the station for over 13 years, when it was reported by KPRC that she was leaving after the negotiations between the two sides regarding her salary failed.
