Who is Lynnie Greene, and what is she doing now?

Laura Lyn ‘Lynnie’ Greene was born in Newton, Massachusetts USA, on 21 May 1954 – her zodiac sign is Gemini and she holds American nationality. She is an actress, movie director and producer, perhaps still best known for her portrayal of a supporting character in the American sitcom “The Golden Girls”, which starred Beatrice Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan, and follows four divorced women living in Miami, Florida. The series aired for seven years and was a huge success, as it won four Golden Globes among 36 other awards, while being nominated for 88 awards.

Early life, family and education

Lynnie was raised an only child in Newton, by her father who was a theatre actor and her mother who worked at a bank. Motivated and encouraged by her father, Lynnie began practicing her acting skills at a very early age, and appeared in several plays performed at her high school. She was physically very active too, as she played a variety of sports including soccer and badminton.

She matriculated in 1972, and then enrolled at The Juilliard School located in New York City, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting in 1976 – while attending Juilliard, Lynnie worked multiple jobs to financially support herself.

Career as an actress

Lynnie made her debut acting performance in 1977, when she was invited to portray one of the lead characters – Maria Teresa Bonino – in the comedy series “On Our Own” which also starred Bess Armstrong and Gretchen Wyler – the story follows two women who are working as secretaries in an advertising agency in New York. Lynnie was praised for her performance, and was thus invited to appear in several shows such as “CBS Galaxy”, “Get Rich Quick” and “The $10,000 Pyramid”.

In 1984, she appeared as Cynthia Sherman in the comedy movie “Over the Brooklyn Bridge”, while the following year saw her appear in two episodes of the romantic series “Search for Tomorrow”, which aired a total of 1655 episodes from 1951 to 1986.

In 1987, Lynnie guest starred as Carmella Sterns in the episode “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby” of the crime mystery series “Cagney & Lacey”.

In 2000 she produced 12 episodes of the comedy series “Normal, Ohio”, and the episode “Showdown” of the series “First Monday”, followed by 73 episodes of the drama series “Nip/Tuck”. After being praised for her producing skills, she worked on four episodes of the series “Scoundrels” and eight episodes of the series “Boss” before being invited to produce 11 episodes of “Masters of Sex”, most of which she had also written.

Her most recent works as a producer were the movie “The Interestings”, and nine episodes of the mini-series “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair”.
