Laura Lyn ‘Lynnie’ Greene was born in Newton, Massachusetts USA, on 21 May 1954 – her zodiac sign is Gemini and she holds American nationality. She is an actress, movie director and producer, perhaps still best known for her portrayal of a supporting character in the American sitcom “The Golden Girls”, which starred Beatrice Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan, and follows four divorced women living in Miami, Florida. The series aired for seven years and was a huge success, as it won four Golden Globes among 36 other awards, while being nominated for 88 awards.

Early life, family and education
Lynnie was raised an only child in Newton, by her father who was a theatre actor and her mother who worked at a bank. Motivated and encouraged by her father, Lynnie began practicing her acting skills at a very early age, and appeared in several plays performed at her high school. She was physically very active too, as she played a variety of sports including soccer and badminton.
She matriculated in 1972, and then enrolled at The Juilliard School located in New York City, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting in 1976 – while attending Juilliard, Lynnie worked multiple jobs to financially support herself.
Career as an actress
Lynnie made her debut acting performance in 1977, when she was invited to portray one of the lead characters – Maria Teresa Bonino – in the comedy series “On Our Own” which also starred Bess Armstrong and Gretchen Wyler – the story follows two women who are working as secretaries in an advertising agency in New York. Lynnie was praised for her performance, and was thus invited to appear in several shows such as “CBS Galaxy”, “Get Rich Quick” and “The $10,000 Pyramid”.
In 1984, she appeared as Cynthia Sherman in the comedy movie “Over the Brooklyn Bridge”, while the following year saw her appear in two episodes of the romantic series “Search for Tomorrow”, which aired a total of 1655 episodes from 1951 to 1986.
In 1987, Lynnie guest starred as Carmella Sterns in the episode “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby” of the crime mystery series “Cagney & Lacey”.
Two of her final roles before retiring from acting were in the 1991episode “The Torrents of Greed: Part 1” of the detective crime series “Law & Order”, and the episode “Alex, Then and N.O.W.” of the comedy series “The 5 Mrs Buchanans”.
Credits as a writer and producer
Lynnie wrote her first TV series episodes in 1994 for the comedy musical “California Dreams”, and in the following year wrote the episode “All About Bree” for the series “The 5 Mrs Buchanans”. In 1996, she wrote four episodes of the series “The Crew”, and then went on to write two episodes “The Not So Lush Rock Star” and “The Dead Lush Artist” of the series “Lush Life”.
These attracted a lot of attention and many positive reviews and critiques, and Lynnie went on to write the episode “Ann’s Big Night” for the series “Family Rules” in 1999, followed by three episodes for the series “Stark Raving Mad” in 2000.
In 2002 she was invited to write “Offensive Action” and “Defending His Honor” episodes of the popular series “JAG”, and from 2003 to 2010, she wrote a total of 18 episodes for the comedy series “Nip/Tuck”. Some of her following works were for the series “Scoundrels” (four episodes), “Boss” (two episodes) and “Masters of Sex” (the episode “Brave New World”). Two of her most recent works have been on the movie “The Interestings” in 2016, which was also her first experience writing a movie script, and on the series “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair” in 2018 (six episodes).
Lynnie has also produced many of the episodes she’s written. She made her producing debut in 1999 on the episode “Ann’s Big Night” of “Family Rules”, and then produced 21 episodes of the series “Stark Raving Mad”. In 2000 she produced 12 episodes of the comedy series “Normal, Ohio”, and the episode “Showdown” of the series “First Monday”, followed by 73 episodes of the drama series “Nip/Tuck”. After being praised for her producing skills, she worked on four episodes of the series “Scoundrels” and eight episodes of the series “Boss” before being invited to produce 11 episodes of “Masters of Sex”, most of which she had also written.
Her most recent works as a producer were the movie “The Interestings”, and nine episodes of the mini-series “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair”.
Love life and husband
Lynnie has been keeping the details of her love life hidden from the media’s attention for all these years since she launched her acting career, but has been seen with several men over the years, and it was believed that she was romantically linked to these. There were also rumors circulating the internet that she might be a lesbian, because she hasn’t talked about any men she might have dated, nor has she married. Some people have even claimed to have seen Lynnie being rather too close to a woman at a café in New York City, but Lynnie hasn’t addressed the rumors concerning her sexuality.
It is believed by many that Lynnie’s longest relationship lasted for around six years while she was in her 40s, and that they broke-up because the man didn’t propose. As of August 2020, she is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Lynnie has always been a lover of travelling, and her career as an actress has made it possible for her to travel all around the world, including many countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.
She is also a philanthropist who has worked with many charity organizations, including donating to children in need in Africa. Lynnie likes animals and has had several pets since she started acting, mostly cats while she’s also had two dogs – her favorite animals are dolphins.
She enjoyed tasting various cuisines during her travels, and her favorite today is Mexican food.
She likes to read in her spare time, and her favorite genres are history and science fiction.
Lynnie has her own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman and Julia Roberts, while some of her favorite movies are “The Shutter Island”, “Leon: The Professional” and “Lost in Translation”.
