Childhood and education
Zach was raised in Baltimore, Maryland USA an only child, by his adoptive South Korean mother who was a model, and his adoptive American father who was a singer and a businessman.
Zach’s adoptive mother is a great cook, which is one of the reasons why he became interested in tasting various foods and cuisines at a very early age, while his mother always dosed his food so that he wouldn’t gain weight.
He attended a local high school at which he played soccer and basketball, and was also interested in acting, appearing in several plays performed at the school. After he matriculated in 2004, Zach and his family moved to Los Angeles in California where he has been living to this day – he hasn’t attended college.

Controversy concerning Stephanie Soo and Nikocado Avocado (Nicholas Perry)
Stephanie Soo and Nikocado Avocado are two YouTubers who also upload mukbang videos, and Zach has on multiple occasions collaborated with them, however, Stephanie claimed that Nikocado makes her feel uncomfortable, and is deliberately sabotaging her videos – she uploaded a video onto YouTube in which she talks about being threatened by Nikocado, and that he took pictures of her in her bathtub even though she didn’t agree with it.
Zach wasn’t pulled into the drama until Nikocado revealed Zach’s messages in which he talks about how Nikocado should leave Stephanie alone – as Zach didn’t give permission for his personal messages to be revealed, both he and Stephanie have hired lawyers to sue Nikocado.
Love life and girlfriend
Zach is quite secretive when it comes to his love life, and hasn’t talked about any girls he might have dated since the launch of his career, which is one of the reasons why there are rumors circulating the internet claiming that Zach is gay – two of his fans have even claimed on the website Reddit to have seen Zach being rather too close to a male friend, but the posts have since been deleted.
There are also those who believe that Zach is asexual and entirely disinterested in having a partner or taking part in sexual activities, however, one of Zach’s closest friends has hinted that he might be romantically linked to a girl he has recently met on the internet, and that they are dating but haven’t yet met as they live in different states.
