Early Life

Parent’s Meeting

Iyanna is the oldest daughter of Floyd Mayweather and Melissia Brim. The couple met in a lounge bar in Las Vegas when Brim was only 16 years old, when Floyd was in a serious relationship with Josie Harris, who was the mother of his first son Koraun.

At first Brim didn’t know about Mayweather’s fame, as he introduced himself as Shaheed and asked for her number. Allegedly, he phoned her a week later and told her his real name. Not long after, the pair started a short-lived but intense romance.

In an interview with Ozy, Brim confessed Mayweather was deeply affectionate and often bought her expensive things: ‘Before I met Floyd, I was a tomboy who dressed in oversize clothes and refused to wear heels. After we met, he had me in Versace. I started enjoying fashion’.

Regardless of Mayweather’s luxurious gifts, Brim continued working independently to be able to sustain herself and her one year old son Devion, who was born shortly before Brim met Mayweather for the first time and the reason she dropped out of school at 15 years old: ‘I needed money to take care of him, and going to school wasn’t going to get the job done. Trying to amend for the time he had lost with his daughter, Mayweather bought Melissia and her children a house and gave them one of his cars. In 2009 he helped Brim to fund her own business – Devanna Love Boutique.

Iyanna has three half-siblings on her father’s side. Besides Koraun, she has a younger half-brother named Zion and a half-sister named Jirah. Devion is her only sibling on her mother’s side.

Although Melissia and Floyd have both remained unmarried, they never reconciled completely, and have remained as good friends.

Romantic Relationships

In early 2019 Iyanna Mayweather started dating the rapper NBS YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden. At the start the relationship apparently was going well for both, but later that year the couple broke up for unknown reasons. Then in December 2019, NBA YoungBoy released a track entitled “Dirty Iyanna”.

Although the song is a tribute to Michael Jackson’s iconic song “Dirty Diana”, YoungBoy intended his song to be a ‘diss track’ about Iyanna. In it he accuses her of slashing his tires, and also sings about her behavior and impulsivity, making her personality seem less than desirable.

Iyanna wasn’t negatively affected by the song though, as she responded to YoungBoy with an Instagram video – now deleted – on which she can be seen laughing at it along with her mother Melissia. NBA YoungBoy simply commented on her video with ‘I’m laughing so hard I love you,’ to which Iyanna answered ‘Lol love you more baby’.

This exchange of sweet messages between them suggested rumors of a possible reconciliation between the two, and later in 2020 the pair confirmed they were dating again.

In April 2020, Iyanna Mayweather was arrested after allegedly stabbing a woman named Lapattra Jacobs, who is the mother of NBA YoungBoy’s son. The altercation happened in YoungBoy’s house after Iyanna arrived while Jacobs was visiting him. Iyanna apparently told Jacobs she didn’t want her to visit YoungBoy.

The women started a discussion which quickly moved to the house’s kitchen, where Iyanna allegedly took a kitchen knife with which she repeatedly stabbed Jacobs in both arms. Apparently it was YoungBoy who called the ambulance which took Jacobs to a nearby hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery despite not presenting life-threatening injuries.

Iyanna’s mother expressed her support for her daughter on her social media accounts, though Floyd Mayweather didn’t offer any comments regarding the incident.

Meanwhile Jacobs said she wasn’t feeling well emotionally, and asked her followers on Instagram to respect her privacy.

Reportedly, Iyanna could have faced a sentence of up to 99 years in prison for aggravated assault, in addition to domestic abuse charges. However, as Iyanna’s criminal history was clear, she only had to pay a $30,000 on bail, and was ordered to stay 1,000 feet away from her victim.

In November 2020, it was confirmed Iyanna Mayweather was soon to give birth to her first child in December 2020. This was confirmed by her own father Floyd during an interview with Hollywood Unlocked: ‘If that makes her happy, then we’re happy – me and her mother are happy’.
