Early life and Education
Jesse Lee Soffer was born on 23 April 1984 in Ossining, New York State USA. He is the middle of five children – he has an older brother and sister, as well as two younger sisters, and his parent’s names are Jill Hindes and Stan Soffer. When he was a toddler his family changed location to Tarrytown, New York State, and several years later to Connecticut USA.
He went to the private co-educational boarding school, The Gunnery, located in Washington D.C. where he was a soccer player, and during his senior year a part of the all-star lineup in his category, and the same year he was honored with the “Gunnery’s McClellan Citizenship Prize”. After matriculating from high school, he enrolled at Drew University, a private university located in Madison, New Jersey USA.
Career
When he was six years old, Jesse was in a Kix commercial for their cereal, then made his film debut in 1993, when he was among the cast of the movie “Matinee”, along with stars Cathy Moriarty and John Goodman.
The next year Soffer was a co-star in the film “Safe Passage”, portraying the character of Percival, before in 1995 securing a big role as Bobby Brady in “The Brady Bunch Movie”, and a year later reprise the role in its sequel “A Very Brady Sequel”.
In the next period, Soffer continued in movies next to some of the biggest Hollywood stars. In the television film “From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweller” he appeared next to Lauren Bacall, and collaborated with the famous director Richard Shepard in “The Royale”, the AMC television movie that premiered in 1997. Soffer landed the role of Taylor Donovan in the 1998 ABC TV series “Two of a Kind” next to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

In 2012, he was in the short-lived ER drama “The Mob Doctor” that aired on Fox TV, co-starring as Nate Devlin, the sibling of Dr. Grace Devlin who was played by Jordana Spiro.
Later that same year, he landed the role of Travis Alexander in “Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret”, the original movie that could be seen on Lifetime.
In the middle of 2013, Soffer became a part of the cast of “Chicago P. D.”, the crime drama that aired on NBC, the spin-off from the famous “Chicago Fire”, with Soffer portraying the role of Det. Jay Halstead, and for which Soffer gained most recognition, remaining in the show for its following seasons. He stated a number of times that he didn’t need a stuntman, and that he did his own stunts on this show as well.
In 2014, Soffer had a guest appearance in the YouTube comedy talk series “Talking Marriage with Ryan Bailey”, in the second season premiere.

In November 2014, Soffer disclosed that he and his “Chicago P.D.” co-star Sofia Bush were dating for some time, but were keeping the relationship private. On 16th October 2016, the couple was seen together at a UNICEF’s humanitarian event, the Neverland Masquerade Ball which was hosted at the Moonlight Studios in Chicago, Illinois. The couple was rather mum about their relationship, and in November 2016 the rumors started circulating about the duo’s break-up. Neither of the two ever commented on the gossip, but they were never seen together again, apart from on the TV screen.
Luckily for fans, the two remained a couple on-screen, and their break-up didn’t ruin their chemistry.
Soffer was in a nine months relationship with the “Chicago Med” and “Army Wives” star Torrey DeVitto, from August 2018 until May 2019; after the couple’s breakup, Soffer hasn’t been romantically linked to anyone.
