Early life and education
The Italian-American actor was raised an only child in Brooklyn by his mother Marge who is a housewife, and his father who was a lawyer – John is very close to his mother, and has stated how he has based his voicing of Linda Belcher on his mother’s voice.
He grew up being interested in acting, but because of his ‘gayish behavior’ John was bullied at both elementary and high school, however, he found comfort in acting, and soon started appearing in the plays performed at his high school.
He matriculated in 1989 and then attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts for two years, before deciding to focus on his acting and singing career full-time, however, he would spend the following 18 years working multiple jobs to financially support himself, while trying to make his way into the film industry.
Career as an actor
John’s first appearance was in the talk show “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” in 2009, and it wasn’t until 2012 that he made his debut movie appearance, when he portrayed Johnny Outrageous in the comedy film “Eugene!”, which starred Eugene Mirman, Andre Blake and Jessica Chaffin.
The year 2013 saw John voice Linda Belcher in the episode “Fugue and Riffs” of the animated action comedy series “Archer”, and in the same year, he was cast to play the lead character in the comedy series “My Drunk Aunts”, but after its pilot episode it wasn’t picked up by any network. He went on to star as Pinhead in the short horror movie “Hellraiser: Origins”, written and directed by Mike Le Han, and John was then seen in another short movie – “Pact” – which follows three childhood friends who make a suicide pact, and 18 years later one of them actually goes through with it.
John voiced one of the lead characters in the episode “The GayFather” of the animated action comedy series “The Awesomes” in 2015, and then voiced Xyler in three episodes of the animated comedy series “Gravity Falls”. The same year saw him play Jeff Sleazay in a single episode of the comedy talk show “Comedy Bang! Bang!”, then in 2016, John played D in the drama movie “Paint It Black”, which won one award despite gaining mixed reviews.
One of John’s latest appearances has been in the 2018 episode “My Way or the Highway to Heaven” of the critically acclaimed animated comedy series “The Simpsons”, and he has recently been cast to voice Linda Belcher (again) in the upcoming animated adventure comedy film “Bob’s Burgers: The Movie”, set to be released on 9 April 2021.
John is also a YouTuber, who launched his channel on 24 March 2006, and there are currently nearly 30,000 people subscribed to it, while he has gathered around 2.5 million views of his five videos combined. He is also a musician who is perhaps best known for his song “Looking” which came out on 17 May 2019.

John doesn’t like to share the details of his love life with the public but he has stated on various occasions that he is gay, while many of his fans have claimed to have seen him holding his boyfriend’s hand while walking together in the streets of Los Angeles.
John announced on his Twitter account on 14 July 2018 that he was engaged to a man, and while he hasn’t talked about their wedding, it is widely believed that they exchanged wedding vows sometime in mid-2019.

John seems to be against the US President Donald Trump as he’s uploaded many pictures on Instagram mocking Donald.
He is keen on watching movies late at night, and some of his favorite actors and actresses are Matt Bomer, Ben Whishaw and Kristen Stewart, while some of his favorite movies are “Magic Mike”, “In Time”, and “Walking Out”.
