Early life and education
Pokelawls was raised an only child in Toronto by his father who was a lawyer, and his mother who was working at a local law company – Pokelawls was very close to his parents, but grew distant from them after deciding to focus on his gaming career.
Pokelawls attended a local high school, but was mostly focused on playing video games and spending time with his friends who were also gamers, and wasn’t much interested in sports either, not being physically active.
He was, however, interested in acting, and appeared in several school plays, but didn’t dedicate enough time to acting to become very good. Pokelawls matriculated in 2010, and his parents urged him to enroll at a college, however, he wanted to focus on his gaming career, and found a job to financially supporting himself while building his fanbase on Twitch.
Pokelawls joined Twitch on 5 June 2010, but didn’t start livestreaming until late 2011.
