Presley spent the first two years of her life in Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island, then moved to Victoria after she was cast to appear in “A Series of Unfortunate Events”. Mike decided to quit the job which he had in Lake Cowichan, while Paige chose to take care of her baby and help her with her acting career, putting a pause on her own dream of working on her own way up in the film industry. Shane Jung, a famous MMA fighter, is Presley’s uncle and is also very supportive of her.
Career as an actress
Presley’s acting career was launched in 2017, when she was cast to portray Sunny Baudelaire in the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Lemony Snicket series, produced by Daniel Handler and eventually picked up by Netflix. The auditioning for the series was opened in the second half of 2016, and it was Presley’s mother who heard about it from her agent, and brought her daughter to it as she believed she would ‘knock the judges off their feet’.
Presley won the role, gaining an opportunity to star alongside famous actors such as Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Warburton, and Aasif Mandvi in the series which follows three children whose parents die in a mysterious fire, and who are trying to uncover family’s darkest secrets.
Although Presley was only two years old at the time, her role required more acting skills than expected as she has supernatural powers in the series, and has to bite on pieces on wood as well as change a lightbulb.
She has a brother and a sister in the show who are played by Louis Hynes and Malina Weissman, and the two often get into trouble with Presley always being there with her superpowers to save the day. While Presley was only supposed to appear in several episodes, both the audience and the show’s producers were amazed by her performance, and they thus decided to invite her to star in all 25 episodes of the series, which ended on 1 January 2019.
As she didn’t speak at the time, Presley was voiced in the show by Tara Strong, a Canadian actress, until the show’s third season.
