Childhood and education
Emirichu spent the first two years of her life in New York, then the family moved to Los Angeles, California where she was raised alongside her two older brothers, by their father who was a construction worker, and their mother who worked as a nurse at a local hospital.
Emirichu is of South Korean descent, but hasn’t learned to speak Korean, although she can read it.
While attending elementary school, Emirichu expressed her desire to train in Taekwondo, but her father wouldn’t allow it, stating it is a ‘boyish’ thing, so she then found comfort in drawing and watching anime. As her eldest brother has stated, Emirichu was very clumsy while growing-up, and would even fall from the coach while sitting without a reasonable explanation, but she hasn’t broken a single bone in her life although she did sprain her ankle when she was 12 years old. Her brother has also stated that she is most balanced when wearing high heels, but her nickname is still ‘Clumsy Ox’.
Emirichu attended a local high school in Los Angeles, and while there taught herself to draw on the computer, and how to create animated videos which eventually led to the launch of her YouTube channel. She attended college and during that time worked as a part-time teacher, and spent her summers working as a camp counselor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2017.
Career as a YouTuber
Emirichu is best known for the animated videos which she uploads onto her YouTube channel, which are solely animated by her. She became famous on the platform after the video “It’s Not Like I Like You” was uploaded onto the JozCentral channel on 24 June 2017, and has gathered over 30 million views since then.
The song is performed by Static-P, while Emirichu did all the artwork and animation.
The first video she uploaded onto her channel was “League of Legends Champion voice impressions (an attempt)” on 30 April 2016 which is five years after the launch of her channel. The video didn’t gain much attention, but two of her most popular videos today are “Childhood Crushes 2” which has been viewed over 12 million times since 29 June 2019, and “Extrovert Problems (Ft.TheAMaazing)” seen more than 3.5 million times since it was uploaded on 27 July 2018.
She has collaborated with many popular YouTubers, including Wolfychu, Danny Casale, and Sultan Sketches among others, while her biggest inspiration is Arina Tanemura, a Japanese manga artist and an illustrator.
Emirichu is also active on Instagram to which she has gathered nearly 400,000 followers, and has uploaded over 260 pictures onto her account; she is also active on Twitter on which she has over 175,000 followers. She has also tried live streaming on the Twitch platform, but did it only two times before giving up on the idea.
Love life and relationships
Emirichu has been keeping the details of her love life hidden from the public’s attention, and this is normal as she was raised in a somewhat traditional South Korean way. However, on 19 October 2017, she tweeted about wishing her boyfriend a happy birthday by drawing him while he was working. She wasn’t yet popular at that time, and the tweet gathered only 20 likes and two comments but this was the only time that she’s spoken about having a boyfriend. It is believed that the two broke up in the summer of 2018 for unknown reasons and Emirichu hasn’t talked about any boys since then.
However, there are rumors circulating the internet that she is currently in a relationship with another YouTuber, after they met on the internet, and that they have been together for nearly a year now. One of her fans started the rumors but Emirichu hasn’t commented on these.
As of June 2020, she is single, hasn’t married, and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Emirichu loves to watch Japanese animes as well as all animated movies, and she is a huge fan of Studio Ghibli, while some of her favorite movies which they’ve made are “Princess Mononoke”, “The Tale of Princess Kaguya”, and “Howl’s Moving Castle”.
She also likes to watch Disney films, and two of her favorites are the trilogy “The Lion King” and “How To Train Your Dragon”. Emirichu likes to travel, and has been to several US states, plus she usually goes to South Korea at least once a year to visit her friends and relatives, while she has also been to Europe on several occasions, visiting countries such as France and Croatia. She is keen on doing charity work, and has volunteered with several non-profit organizations which are helping underprivileged children and elderly people.
Emirichu is also physically active, as she plays a variety of sports such as volleyball and tennis, while she is an avid ice skater and loves winter as she also knows how to ski. In her spare time, she likes to sit in a park close to her home and read.

Emirichu is 24 years old. She has long brown hair and brown eyes, is 5ft 6ins (1.67m) tall, and weighs around 128lbs (58kgs). As of June 2020, her net worth is estimated at over $350,000, while she is today making around $33,000 per year only from her YouTube channel.
