Jack Avery is an American guitarist, piano player and singer, who achieved stardom with the boy band Why Don’t We, often stylized WDW. Jack Avery was born on the 1st July 1999, in Burbank, California USA, however, he spent his childhood in Susquehanna, a small town in Pennsylvania USA, growing-up with four sisters – Sydney Avery, Isla Stanford, Camila, and Ava Stanford.

As a young child he didn’t display any interest in music or other performing arts, but would play sports, basketball in particular, However, as he got older he grew-out of basketball, and instead started displaying an interest in music, and started using social media to express himself.

It was during high school that Jack began using social media to upload his covers of popular songs, which in a short period of time resulted in a decent fan following.

After a while he was noticed by other young struggling musicians, Zach Herron, Daniel Seavey, Corbyn Besson and Jonah Marais. He was already signed to IMPACT, with which he got exposure to the music world, and once he started collaborating with Daniel and the rest of the gang, it was only a matter of time before the quintet formed a band. It finally happened in September 2016, and less than a month later they had their debut single – “Taking You” – in stores.

On their return they hit the studio, and their second EP – “Something Different” – came out on the 21st April 2017.

The EP peaked at No. 6 on the Top Heatseekers chart, but also featured their first charting song “Something Different”, which reached No. 33 on the US Pop chart.

The band again ventured on a tour, after which they released another EP “Why Don’t We Just”, which reached No. 2 on the Top Heatseekers chart. Thanks to their increasing popularity, the band struck a deal with Atlantic Records in September 2017, and later that month released the EP “Invitation”, which also reached No. 2 on the Top Heatseekers, while it also became their first release to feature on the US Billboard 200 chart, as it reached No. 113.

Now under their new record label, the band continued to make new music, and in November 2017 released the new EP “Why Don’t We Christmas”, which reached No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers chart.

Debut Album and Recent Endeavors

Jack and the rest of the band continued to improve, and with new ideas recorded a full-length album, released on the 31st August 2018 and entitled “8 Letters”. The album peaked at No. 9 on the US Billboard 200 chart, while in Australia it reached No. 10.

The titular song achieved gold status in the USA and Canada, and the album also spawned hits such as “Trust Fund Baby”, “Hooked”, and “Talk”, among others. Since that release, the five have been working on a second studio album which will be released late in 2020. Also, they released their sixth EP – “Spotify Singles” – in October 2018, and have also been releasing a song each month since March 2019; some of the hit singles include “I Don’t Belong in This Club” – a duet with rapper and songwriter Macklemore – then “What Am I”, and most recently “Chills”, including a music video for the song.

With the international success of the band have come a few nominations and awards, including Teen Choice Award for the Choice Music Group in 2019, and the BreakTudo Award for the International New Artist in 2018, among other honors, such as nominations for the MTV Video Music Award for Best Group, and the Choice Song: Group for their “8 Letters” song, but the awards got away.
