Early life and family
Josh Wyatt was born on 30 September 1991 in England – his exact birthplace is not known, however,. Josh was raised in a middle-class family with his younger sibling, who like himself, has also pursued a life as a streamer.
Josh had lived most of his life in the UK, and developed an interest in video gaming at a young age. Nothing else is known about the YouTuber’s early life, as he has successfully kept his personal affairs a secret.
Educational background
Josh matriculated from a local English high school, though the name of the institution is not widely known, but it’s known that Josh did not further his education, and instead chose to become a Twitch streamer.
Career
Josh began his Twitch channel in 2013 from the first season of League of Legends (LoL). He specifically focuses on only streaming LoL content, and aims to help other players who watch his streams to improve their game.
He also adds a bit of humour to his videos, but mostly shares strategies and gaming tactics. However, his popularity did not grow until he launched his YouTube channel.
Josh’s brother also specialises in streaming LoL content, and is known by the channel name FoxDrop. Phylol is often associated with Nicktron, against whom he competes for popularity in the league of LoL streaming.
Despite being a popular go-to choice to get the best League of Legends strategies, there are a lot of people who simply consider Phylol to be rather mediocre.
In a Reddit sub dedicated to LoL, his name had popped up several times. In the discussions, people outed Josh for being less competent than his competition, and said that there are better sources that would actually help newbs (new players) and advanced players improve their game.
Phylol has also been ridiculed by Neace, a fellow LoL streamer, who many consider as Phylol’s biggest rival. Neace has accused Phylol of simply copying his videos and strategies and selling them as his own. It is uncertain whether this is the truth, but Phylol has allegedly been caught copying another player’s strategies, but tried to make it less obvious.
Not too long ago, in May of 2017, a player who goes by the name I Keep It Tacos, accused Phylol of stealing his content. The content was originally published on the LoL subreddit and was used by Phylol in one of his videos, without crediting the original creator.
In a Reddit post on the same thread that made it to the front page, Taco posted a message, saying that the more he observed the video the more he realised it was his own strategy, complete with mistakes, and was made to seem less obvious than the original content.
This led to an ongoing feud that called the YouTuber a fraud, which was ironic since Josh once posted a comment about asking a Facebook page owner to remove his content, but was threatened instead.
Of course, Neace could not stay quiet about this, and outed the YouTuber in one of his videos, saying, “Let that be a lesson dude…”. Phylol has experienced a lot of negativity because of this, with some people sending him hate-messages and telling him to kill himself.
When asked to comment, Phylol apologised to Taco, and offered to pay him all of the proceeds he made from advertising and also removed the video.
The big hole in the story that made it most obvious was the fact that the strategy guide was based on Jhin games, which Phylol did not compete in on a regular basis. Phylol commented saying that he doesn’t have as much time to play LoL these days, and “I stupidly thought if they could get away with it, then so could I,”.
Phylol continues to stream videos, but it goes without saying that he sticks to creating original content from now on.
Hobbies, favourite things and interesting facts
Josh likes to spend a lot of time with his brother.
He is also fond of travelling, and likes both basketball and soccer. It is known that he and his brother are both animal lovers, and they had a pet dog by the name Shadwell, which passed away in early 2019 at 19 years old. Josh shared the news in a post on Twitter.
Relationships
Nothing is known about the streamer’s romantic involvements. No relationship status is shared on his Facebook page, and it is not known if he has a girlfriend. However, rumours have surfaced that he is dating a fellow female YouTuber, who is reportedly a Fortnite gamer and lives in the same city. This still has to be confirmed by Josh.
We had to say goodbye to our best friend last night. He’s been a part of our family for 17 years and I couldn’t have asked for better. I can barely remember a time without him. Videos and streams will be a little random for a while pic.twitter.com/R0sbWrYwU9
