6. Camila is actually her middle name

Camila Cabello is not the real name of this singer. The former Fifth Harmony singer’s full name goes by Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao. Thus, Camila is actually her middle name, but she uses it as her “stage” name/alter ego so to speak. “Karla is my first name, Camila is my middle name. Long story short, my family always called me Camila. When I came to school in the United States, I was really, really shy and the teachers started calling me Karla. In my life, I push myself to do a lot of things that make me uncomfortable, and that’s how I started dancing. That’s how I feel like I found myself — through Camila and performance and music, as that confident video vixen. They’re both over-exaggerated personas of me,” she explained. “I really wanted to show in an exaggerated way, two different sides of me. Camila, which is kind of this performer in me and Karla is who I still am in my essence and who I was growing up: really awkward around boys, doesn’t know what the heck to say, is shy and introverted, doesn’t really like going out because she just likes to be in her fantasy movie world and that’s really me,” Camila added.

She later took to Instagram to showcase the outfit and her colorful Girlie But Not floral necklace from her passenger seat, along with a series of other snaps. She wanted her license for quite some time now. She told Sound Exchange, “I haven’t had the time! I’m also way too clumsy and distracted to drive a car. I think… at least for now.”

8. Camila is a High School Dropout

Camila Cabello revealed on “The Breakfast Club” radio show that she dropped out of high school at 17 to pursue her singing career full-time when she moved to Miami, Florida. She further stated that she was self-taught, which meant that it took twice as long to graduate from high school. She did eventually earn her GED, though. When living in Mexico, she attended for a little bit until her family moved to Miami where she continued public school. Around the time she turned 15, that was when her career really started to take off. Due to such a busy schedule, Camila felt that between the 2012-2013 school year it would be best to be homeschooled. So, she decided she didn’t want to go to public school anymore, and left in the middle of High School and decided to switch over to homeschooling. She has since graduated.

In an essay published in WSJ magazine, the singer discussed not wanting to come forward about her obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, OCD is when someone “has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or behaviors (compulsions) that he or she feels the urge to repeat over and over.” “I didn’t want to tell you what was going on for the same reason a lot of us don’t want to talk about what it feels like to be at war in our minds and in our bodies. I was embarrassed and ashamed,” Cabello wrote. “There was something hurting inside me, and I didn’t have the skill to heal it or handle it. In order to heal it, I had to talk about it,” she said. “Denying my suffering and berating myself didn’t help things. I needed to say those three revolutionary words: ‘I need help.'” “My anxiety manifested in the form of obsessive-compulsive disorder,” she explained. “OCD can take many different forms, and for me it was obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. She said it also affected her physically, not allowing her to sleep for a long time and leaving her with a constant knot in her throat. “I had chronic headaches, and my body went through what felt like multiple roller-coaster rides every day,” she said. “I kept going and kept showing up, never letting people around me know how much I was really struggling.” Now, however, she says “anxiety and I are good friends.”
