Early Life, Childhood and Education
Sofia was born under the zodiac sign of Gemini on the 1st June 1999, in Richmond, Virginia USA, the only child of Sosie Hublitz and her husband Keiran Lawrence Gaughan, who passed away in 2017. Besides being of American nationality and white ethnicity, she also has some German ancestry through her mother, and a bit of Irish descent through her father’s side. Her mother is a chef and the owner of several restaurants spreading across the states of Virginia and North Carolina. After spending her early childhood in her home town, at the age of seven she relocated with her family to New York, where she attended the Professional Children’s School.
“MasterChef Junior”
At the age of 13, Sofia made her debut on-screen appearance in September 2013 as one of the contestants in an American version of the UK children’s cooking show – “MasterChef Junior”. It features kids aged from eight to 13, testing their cooking skills through a series of probes divided into five categories, including the Skills Test, Mystery Box challenge, Elimination Test, Team Challenge and the last one named Pressure Test, while contending for the prize of $100,000.
Sofia appeared in the show’s first season, featuring Joe Bastianich, Graham Elliot as well as Gordon Ramsey as judges. Although she didn’t make it to the final round, finishing in eighth place, she came to prominence for managing to soften the heart of ‘The King of Confrontation‘ – the ‘blunt’ quick-tempered chef Gordon Ramsey.

In 2016, Hublitz joined the United Talent Agency (popularly referred to as UTA) based in Beverly Hills, California, and not long after she earned a guest appearance in an episode of the web comedy drama series created by Louis C.K., entitled “Horace and Pete” that has twice been nominated for a prestigious Primetime Emmy Award.
The real breakthrough in Sofia Hublitz‘s acting career occurred in 2017, when she started appearing opposite Jason Bateman and Laura Linney in the Netflix original TV series entitled “Ozark”.
The show, nominated for two Golden Globes so far, follows the story of a financial adviser who, circumstantially, becomes a money launderer for a Mexican drug kingpin, and alongside his family had to move to The Ozarks, Missouri. Playing the role of Charlotte Byrde, the daughter of Bateman’s and Linney’s characters, Sofia has so far appeared in 30 episodes through the show’s three-seasons-long run, which has also earned her a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2019.
