Who is Audrey Nethery?
Audrey Nethery was born in Kentucky USA, on 20 October 2008 – her zodiac sign is Libra and she holds American nationality. She is a YouTuber, probably best known for appearing in her father’s videos, and for trying to raise awareness about the Diamond Blackfan Anemia, a very rare bone marrow disease from which she is suffering.
Early life, parents and education
Audrey is being raised an only child in Kentucky by her father who is working two jobs to support the family, and her mother Julie who is a housewife.
Audrey is still attending elementary school, and is interested in numerous things such as playing video games, travelling and playing sports, however, she cannot play many sports and shouldn’t get tired as it could worsen her condition. She became interested in dancing at a very early age – after her mother took her to her first class of Zumba, she discovered that her daughter was very passionate about it – Audrey has been taking Zumba lessons for five years now. She spends most of her free time reading books – her favorites are romantic books such as those written by Nicholas Sparks, including “Dear John” and “The Notebook”.
Although she hasn’t yet enrolled at a high school, Audrey has already made plans for the future, and is hoping to enroll at a college after she matriculates.
Her father’s YouTube channel
Audrey’s father launched the YouTube channel “Audrey Nethery” on 20 August 2013, and part of its bio section reads ‘This channel is dedicated to my daughter Audrey who has a rare bone marrow syndrome called Diamond Blackfan Anemia (www.dbafoundation.org). Individuals with DBA don’t make enough red blood cells to survive.’
There are currently over a million people subscribed to the channel, and it counts over 327 million views of all the videos uploaded onto it. Audrey dances and sings in most of the videos, and two of the most popular on the channel are “Audrey at the International Zumba Convention in Orlando!!” which has been seen over 85 million times since 19 August 2015, and “Life’s Beautiful- Audrey Nethery Ft. Steven Battey and Kayla C.” which has been viewed over 58 million times since 13 December 2016 – because of how mean people can be in the comments, Audrey’s father has disabled commenting.
The channel is not solely made to show people what the disease looks like, but to help gather money for critical research and perhaps for finding the cure for this disease. Audrey also has an Instagram account which is run by her father, and which today counts nearly 550,000 followers – the account is also used to raise awareness about the disease.
Disease
Diamond Blackfan Anemia is a congenital erythroid aplasia, which can be noticed in the early stages of life. It causes the person to not have enough red blood cells, and not treating it would lead to certain death.
In around a quarter of cases, the disease is inherited from parents and grandparents, while in around half the cases it’s been connected with abnormal ribosomal protein genes.
To diagnose the disease, a blood count test is done as well as a bone marrow biopsy – the disease is usually diagnosed when the person is not older than two years.
There are multiple ways to treat the Diamond Blackfan Anemia, but it cannot be cured. Corticosteroids are the main treatment, and around 82 percent of people respond positively to this therapy, but with many side effects.
Blood transfusions are often used to treat serious cases of the disease, and bone marrow transplantation is the third way of treatment, which can cure the disease’s hematological aspects. There are many studies currently being conducted, and many charity events are organized all around the world to gather money for this researches.
Hobbies and other interests
Audrey is a very active girl who loves to dance as can be seen in numerous videos uploaded onto YouTube.
She is a huge lover of plush toys, and her parents often buy her new ones. Audrey enjoys being outdoors, especially in the woods which is why her parents occasionally take her to national parks and zoos – she is a lover of animals, but doesn’t have a pet as the family doesn’t have enough free time to take proper care of it.
She likes to listen to music in her spare time, and her favorite bands are The Lumineers and The Paper Kites, while two of her favorite songs are “Ho Hey” and “Submarines”.
Audrey also likes to watch movies with her parents, and her favorite actor and actress are Johnny Depp and Emma Watson, while her favorite movies are the franchises “Harry Potter” and “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, as well as several Disney movies such as “How To Train Your Dragon” and “Despicable Me”.

Audrey is 11 years old. She has blonde hair and brown eyes, is 4ft 8ins (1.43m) tall and weighs around 80lbs (37kgs).
As of August 2020, her father’s net worth has been estimated at around $50,000.
