Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt
Angelina Jolie adopted her first child, Maddox Chivan from an orphanage in Battambang, Cambodia on 10 March 2002. She was married to Billy Bob Thornton at the time. Maddox was born Rath Vibol on 5 August 2001 in the local village. His adoption became lengthy due to the U.S. government’s adoption ban from Cambodia due to child trafficking allegations. She raised Maddox as a single parent following their separation. He was only seven months old when Jolie adopted him. Bradd Pitt later adopted Maddox in 2006.

Angelina Jolie adopted a girl, Zahara Marley from Ethiopia in July 2005. She was born Yemsrach on 8 January 2005 in Awasa in Ethiopia. Brad Pitt accompanied Jolie when she traveled to Ethiopia to take custody of Zahara. She was six months old when Jolie adopted her. Angelina Jolie gave birth to her first biological child, a daughter, Shiloh Nouvel on 27 May 2006. Jolie and Bradd Pitt had traveled to Namibia for the birth of their first biological child. They sold the first pictures of Shiloh through the distributor Getty Images with the aim of benefiting charity, rather than allowing paparazzi to take these valuable photographs. Jolie gave birth to her second and third biological children, a twin on 12 July 2008. She gave birth to a son, Knox Leon, and a daughter, Vivienne Marcheline.
