Who is Tyler Lepley?

American actor Tyler Lepley was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania USA, on 24 March 1987, making Aries his zodiac sign. He’s appeared in only 15 movies and TV series, and is perhaps known best for portraying Curtis in the 2013 romantic comedy movie “Baggage Claim”, which starred Jill Scott, Taye Diggs and Paula Patton, and was written and directed by David E. Talbert. It follows Montana who’s travelling 30,000 miles to meet a potential suitor and charm him into becoming her fiancé – the film was nominated for a 2014 Acapulco Black Film Festival Award for Best Ensemble Cast.

Tyler’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “Thirsty” and “Slaughter On! Slumber Party Slaughter 2”.

Education and early life

Tyler was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by his mother and stepfather; he was six when his mother married her second husband. Not many details have been disclosed about his biological father, but it’s known that he’s Jamaican, as well as that his mother is of Italian descent.

Tyler’s revealed that he was bullied while attending a local elementary school because he was the only biracial child there. He progressed to Central Bucks High School West in 2001, and became passionate about sports during his four years there; he played football, ran track and took karate and boxing lessons.

In 2003, Tyler suffered a serious injury and underwent surgery, nearly ending his football career, but he was able to make a comeback and was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the Villanova University’s sports camp.

Tyler matriculated in 2005, and then enrolled at Kutztown University on an athletic scholarship; he quit football two years later, but continued his education at Kutztown, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2010.

In the first half of 2011, Tyler moved to Los Angeles, California together with his friend and began working as a personal trainer at Santa Monica’s Iron Fitness Gym; he was at the gym when he was discovered by a film producer, who then helped Tyler launch his acting career.

Roles in movies

Tyler’s debut film role was playing Detective Dave in the 2012 crime drama “Dirty People”, which starred Pat Asanti, Cosimo Canale and Richard Portnow, and was written and directed by Richard Crudo; it’s a film made to advertise Canon’s C300 Camera.

In 2013, Tyler portrayed Bar Patron in the comedy “Sake-Bomb”, and the same year saw him play Victor Reins in the drama “Hollywood Chaos”, which starred Mykel Shannon Jenkins and Vanessa Simmons, and was directed by Abel Vang; it follows an entertainment reporter who’s been tasked with exposing decadent lifestyles of her celebrity friends.

Tyler’s following roles were in the 2016 drama “Ringside”, the 2017 music video “Keyshia Cole Feat. Remy Ma & French Montana: You”, and the 2019 comedy “Three’s Complicated”.

He’s had only one other film role, playing The Executive in the 2019 short drama “About The People”, which starred Akintola Jiboyewa, Coffey and Sterling Brim, and was directed by Sterling Milan; it follows the members of an African-American community.

Roles in TV series

Tyler’s debut TV series role was playing Gym Guy in the 2012 episode “It’s All Fun and Games” of the romantic comedy “90210”, then from 2013 through 2021, he portrayed Benny Young in 122 episodes of the crime mystery “The Haves and the Have Nots”, which starred Tika Sumpter, Crystal Fox and John Schneider, and was created by Tyler Perry. It follows the lives of members of one poor and two wealthy families, and the series won a 2015 Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Female Actor – One To Watch (Angela Robinson).

Tyler had only a single TV series role while shooting for “The Haves and the Have Nots”, playing Micah in the 2019 episode “Ex-Factor” of the drama “Tales”.

From 2020 through 2022, Tyler played Diamond in 14 episodes of the hit crime drama “P-Valley”, which starred Nicco Annan and Shannon Thornton, and was created by Katori Hall. It follows the lives of several strip-club dancers, and the series won 10 of its 47 award nominations.

Tyler’s only other TV series role has been playing Ian Walker in all 18 episodes of the comedy “Harlem” since 2021.

Other credits

Tyler was featured in the 2011 reality show “Style It Rich”, and the 2015 TV special “23rd Annual Trumpet Awards”.

Some of his recent talk-show appearances have been in “The E-Spot with Camille”, “Made in Hollywood” and “Tamron Hall”.

Love life and relationships

Tyler met American actress and social media star Miracle Watts on the set of the series “P-Valley”, and they began dating in June 2021; the two welcomed their son in the second half of 2022, but they’re keeping their boy away from the media’s attention, and his name and exact birthdate haven’t been disclosed.

Tyler also has two children with his former girlfriend, American talent agent April King; it’s believed that the two were engaged, but this hasn’t been confirmed. The names of his and April’s children haven’t been revealed either, but it’s believed that both Tyler and April are equally involved in their upbringing.

Tyler’s in a relationship with Miracle Watts as of June 2023, he hasn’t married, has a son with Miracle, and two children with former girlfriend April King.

Tyler’s an Instagram star, as close to a million people are following him on the network today, while he’s posted over 200 pictures and videos, with most of these featuring him during his everyday life.

He’s a huge fan of tattoos, and his arms are nearly entirely inked.

Tyler likes summer the most, as he enjoys swimming in the ocean and yachting.

He’s into travelling, and has been to more than 10 US states and a couple of European countries, while he mostly enjoys vacationing in Miami, Florida.

One of Tyler’s favorite actors is Jamie Foxx, and some of his favorite movies include “Law Abiding Citizen”, “Dreamgirls” and “Just Mercy”.
