Who is Olivia Chenery?

Olivia Chenery was born in London, England, on 11 March 1989 – her zodiac sign is Pisces and she holds British nationality. She is an actress, perhaps best known for having portrayed the lead character Mary, Queen of Scots in the mini-series “Queens”, which also starred Rebecca Scott Matt McClure, and which follows the lives of two women: Mary, Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I of England– the film won cinematographer Javier Salmones an Iris Jury Award in Spain.

Early life, family and education

Olivia was raised in London an only child by her father who was a lawyer, and her mother who worked at a local bakery – the family moved several times while Olivia was still very young. She became interested in acting while attending elementary school, as she spent a lot of time in front of the TV watching series and movies with her mother. Upon enrolling at a high school, she joined the school’s drama club and began appearing in the plays performed there. Olivia was also physically active during this time as she played soccer and tennis, mostly to stay fit.

She matriculated in 2007, and didn’t enroll at college, but focused on her acting career.

Roles in movies

Olivia made her debut film appearance in 2008, when she portrayed the lead character Mean Girl 1 in the short movie “Flushed”, directed and written by Martin Stirling – the film also starred Caroline Haines and Jo Hartley, and follows a chubby boy who has to use the school toilet which is something he is most scared of.

In 2011 she starred as Rachel in another short movie “Penguin”, and in 2014 portrayed Sandy in the action mystery science fiction film “The Anomaly”, which starred Noel Clarke and Ian Somerhalder.

In 2015, Olivia played Yasmin in the comedy movie “Legacy”, directed and written by Davie Fairbanks and Marc Small, which starred Franz Drameh and Amy Tyger. The year 2016 saw her portray Sariya in the crime thriller movie “Brotherhood” which was directed and written by Noel Clarke, who also starred in it alongside Arnold Oceng and Red Madrell.

Two of her latest roles have been in the thriller movie “10×10” in which she starred as Alana, alongside Kelly Reilly and Luke Evans, and in the comedy crime movie “Playing Dead” in which she played Clarissa, both in 2018. She has recently been cast to play Mia in the upcoming movie “Brawl”.

Olivia made her debut TV series appearance in 2012, when she portrayed famed actress Hedy Lamarr in the episode “Mobile Phones” of the documentary series “How We Invented the World”, and in 2013 she appeared as Princess in two episodes of the comedy series “Family Tree”, but which aired only eight episodes before it was cancelled.

The year 2015 saw her guest star as The Witness in a single episode of the mini-series “The Interceptor”, and she gained recognition in the same year after portraying The Witch in nine episodes of the critically acclaimed fantasy horror series “Penny Dreadful”.

In 2016, she guest starred in a single episode of the action adventure series “Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands”, starring Kieran Bew, Joanne Whalley and Ed Speleers, and created by James Dormer.

Three of Olivia’s most recent appearances in TV series have been in two episodes of the crime mystery series “Silent Witness” in which she played Beth Roscoe, and in the episode “Confection” of the mystery crime series “Endeavour”, in which she portrayed Isla Fairford, both in 2019.  In 2020 she appeared in eight episodes of the action crime series “Bulletproof”, in which she portrayed Scarlett ‘Scooch’ Hailton.

Love life and husband

Olivia prefers to keep her personal matters to herself but she occasionally uploads pictures featuring her and her other half onto her Instagram account. She has recently married her long-term boyfriend Chris Grierson who is currently working as a presenter and a producer at Crystal Palace F.C. The two met at a party organized by a mutual friend in 2016 and they started dating not long after. They are today living together in England, London and have decided not to have children in the following couple of years as they are both currently focused on their careers.

It is believed that Olivia was once in a long-term relationship with a man whom she dated for over two years before they split for unknown reasons – according to the rumors, the two were also engaged before separating.

Hobbies and other interests

Olivia’s favorite season is summer as she enjoys sun tanning at the beach as well as swimming in the ocean.

She is a lover of animals, and her favorites are dolphins, while she has a pet dog which can often be seen featured in the pictures she uploads onto her Instagram account.

Olivia is a traveler and her career as an actress has made it possible for her to travel all around Europe while she has also been to several American states including New York and California.

She is keen on spending her spare time in the nature surrounded by trees, mountains and animals, rather than to be stuck in overcrowded cities.

She has her own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Kate Winslet, and some of her favorite movies are “Titanic”, “Good Will Hunting” and “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
