They started dating, and after five years together they married on 17 September 2005 at the Sunset View Farms in Bovina, New York. The couple has two boys and a girl, and now live in Larchmont, New York.

Husband Gavin McInnes

Gavin McInnes is a controversial comedian, writer and political commentator, born on 17 July 1970 in Great Britain, but raised in Canada – he has both British and Canadian citizenship. He attended Carleton University and graduated in English literature, and has another degree from Concordia University, in business administration.

His mother is a retired business teacher, and his father is a former Vice president of Canadian Defense Company. He moved to the US where he started his career, where he co-founded “Vice”, a paper magazine, and was in charge of the publication department. His nickname was “The Godfather of Hipsterdom”, partly from being the co-author of two books – “The Vice Guide to Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll” and “Vice Dos and Don’ts:10 Years of Vice Magazine’s Street Fashion Critiques”.

McInnes left Vice in 2008 after 14 years, for creative differences.

The same year he started the web site “Streetcarnage.com”, and also became a creative director of the advertising agency Rooster, in 2012 publishing the book “How to Piss in Public”.

McInnes has experience in the film industry too. He played in two shorts movies – “Sophie Can Walk” in 2008 and ‘Asshole” in 2009. In 2013 he also appeared in the movie “How to Be a Man”, and in 2015 in “Creative Control” and “One More Time”. While on a tour as a standup comedian in 2013, McInnes directed a documentary called “The Brotherhood of the Traveling Rants”.

In 2014 McInnes caused controversy in Rooster and was asked to take a leave, but the next year “The Gavin McInnes Show” started. He commented on other shows, too and wrote for few magazines. McInnes was a part of the Canadian “The Rebel Media”, who supported far right political policies, but left in 2017 and founded a group called Proud Boys, characterized as an extremist group close to white nationalists, participating in protests with white nationalists and neo-Nazis. In 2018 they were caught on a camera beating another protester, so McInnes started to have problems.

First he didn’t get visa for a trip to Australia due to his bad character. His accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube were suspended, as well as PayPal and Amazon for violating their policies. Although he left the chairman position in the group a month after the incident, the Larchmont residents where McInnes lives started a campaign “Hate Has No Home Here”. He sent letters to explain that he had been misunderstood, but that didn’t help. Even wife Emily was involved, trying to defend her husband and threatening legal action, so she was accused of harassment by the neighbors; some of these incidents involved the police.

McInnes has said many things, provoking Muslims, Jews, women and making controversial comments about race, ethnicity, violence and genocide. However, referring to his wife’s origins he said: “I’ve made my views on Indians very clear. I like them. I actually like them so much, I made three.” It is very interesting that Emily declares herself as a liberal democrat, but “The New York Times” defined her husband as a far-right provocateur.
