Brandon Carrillo Moreno is a Mexican professional mixed martial artist who is professionally known as Brandon Moreno. He gained fame for competing in the Flyweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former UFC Flyweight Champion and the current Interim UFC Flyweight Champion. He made his professional MMA debut in his native Mexico in April of 2011 and he would debut for the World Fighting Federation in 2014 where he would eventually win the Flyweight championship. Brandon was also cast in the 25th season of the Fox Sports show The Ultimate Fighter where he was placed on Team Benavidez. He became the first Mexican-born champion in the UFC in 2021. Additionally, he is #1 in the UFC flyweight rankings as of 21st March 2022.

Brandon Moreno took birth on 7th December 1993 with the real name of Brandon Carrillo Moreno in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. He is of Mexican nationality and he came from Mexican-white ethnic background. Likewise, his religious belief is in the Christian religion and his race is white. His present age is 28 which he celebrated back in 2021 and as per his birthdate, his star sign is Sagittarius. He is the son of his father, Alfredo Moreno, and his mother, Cecilia Carrillo.

  • Brandon Moreno kicks off his MMA career by making his professional MMA debut in his native Mexico in April 2011 as he amassed a record of 6 wins and 3 losses over the next two years.
  • He would debut for the World Fighting Federation promotion in 2014 and would go undefeated in the promotion at 5-0 and would eventually win the Flyweight championship, which led to him being cast in the Flyweight tournament on the 25th season of “The Ultimate Fighter”.
  • It was revealed in July 2016 that he was a participant in “The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions”.
  • He was also selected as a member of Team Benavidez after which he faced Alexandre Pantoja in the opening stage and lost the fight via submission.
  • Moreno debuted in the UFC while his season of “The Ultimate Fighter” was still airing and faced Louis Smolka at UFC Fight Night: Lineker vs. Dodson on 1st October 2016. He won the fight via submission in the first round. 
  • He returned to face Ryan Benoit on 3rd December 2016 at The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions Finale in his second fight for the promotion and won the fight via split decision.
  • He also defeated Dustin Ortiz on 22nd April 2017 at UFC Fight Night 108 and faced Sergio Pettis on 5th August 2017 at UFC Fight Night 114. He lost the fight via unanimous decision. 
  • On 7th April 2018, he was expected to face Ray Borg at UFC 223 however the bout was canceled after Borg was injured by glass from a bus window that was smashed by Team SBG. Moreno sadly lost the fight by unanimous decision.
  • Brandon signed a multi-fight contract with the Legacy Fighting Alliance and made his promotional debut against the prevailing Flyweight Champion Maikel Perez at LFA 69 on 7th June 2019. He won the fight via technical knockout in the fourth round.
  • On 21st September 2019, he faced promotional newcomer Askar Askarov at UFC Fight Night 159. The back-and-forth bout ended in a split draw.
  • He was expected to face Alex Perez on 21st November 2020 at UFC 255 but, on 2nd October it was announced that Cody Garbrandt, who was scheduled to fight Deiveson Figueiredo for the UFC Flyweight Championship at the event, pulled out due to a torn bicep and was replaced by Perez.
  • Moreno instead faced Brandon Royval and won the fight via technical knockout in round one.
  • On 12th December 2020, he faced Deiveson Figueiredo for the UFC Flyweight Championship at UFC 256 which help him to earn both athletes the “Fight of the Night” award.
  • He rematched Figueiredo for the UFC Flyweight Championship on 12th June 2021, co-headlining UFC 263, and earned the “Performance of the Night” award.
  • On 11th December 2021, the trilogy rematch with Figueiredo for the UFC Flyweight Championship was scheduled to take place at UFC 269 initially, but it was moved to UFC 270 as the co-main event. Moreno lost the bout and the title via unanimous decision. This fight earned him the “Fight of the Night” award.
  • On 30th July 2022, he next faced Kai Kara-France in a rematch for the interim UFC Flyweight Championship and won the fight via TKO in the third round which help him to earn Moreno his third “Fight of the Night” award.
