New Season on Travel Channel
The reality series “Mountain Monsters” premiered on 22 June 2013 on the Destination America network, and was aired for five seasons until 2017.
After being on a hiatus for two years, it was announced the series renewal on Travel Channel, so the series was returned to the air for a sixth season with a special two-hour premiere on 21 August 2019.
Cast – A.I.M.S Team
The A.I.M.S. team is a cryptozoology investigation crew who are looking for potential evidence of the existence of such mysterious and mythical creatures as Mothman, Lizard Man, Hellhound, Werewolf, and Bigfoot in the Appalachian Mountains. The team was established by the late John ‘Trapper’ Tice, trap builder Willy McQuillian, and researcher Jeff Headlee.
Other members of the team are expert caller Jacob ‘Buck’ Lowe, security Joseph ‘Huckleberry’ Lott, and expert tracker William ‘Wild Bill’ Neff. They use their own techniques to try and find creatures. As part of that, they also frequently meet with people who have noticed something strange, and believed that they spotted some creature.
Is It Real or Fake?
In April 2015, the founder of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization Matt Moneymaker tweeted that the show “Mountain Monsters” was scripted and fake, and that the members of the A.I.M.S. team were just good actors.
John ‘Trapper’ Tice tweeted back that he was not an actor, and that he sometimes felt that Matt’s show should be called “Losing Bigfoot” instead of “Finding Bigfoot”. The online conflict was continued, leaving viewers confused as to whether the show is real or fake.
John ‘Trapper’ Tice
John R. Tice, also known by his nickname of ‘Trapper’, was born on 24 May 1947 in West Virginia, and was raised in the mountains. He was the founder of the A.I.M.S. team and made appearances as a trapper and tracker in more than 50 episodes of ‘Mountain Monsters’ after it premiered in 2013, until 2019.
John had some serious health issues, and passed away on 16 December 2019 at the age of 72. He earned over $20,000 per episode and his net worth was estimated at over $1 million at the time of his death. He spent some time serving in the US Air Force, and was a Vietnam veteran. He developed various survival skills which helped him to lead the investigate team in the show. Joseph ‘Huckleberry’ Lott
