Early Life and Career Beginnings

David Paul is of Norwegian descent, and he grew up alongside a younger brother in Moline, where their father was a doctor. At a young age, both brothers aspired to careers as actors, which they would pursue later on following the completion of their respective education. David’s first project was in an episode of the show “Twenty Good Years”, in which he worked as a stunt double.

He continued to work as a part of the stunt team for several other shows, gaining more notable projects over the years, including “The Young and the Restless”, “The Mentalist”, and “Bones”.

Aside from his stunt work, he also forayed into voice acting early on, with one of his first projects being the video game “Resistance 2”, a first-person shooter game that was released for PlayStation 3, serving as the sequel to “Resistance: Fall of Man”. He also lent his voice to the film “G-Force”.

Continued Stunt and Acting Work

In 2009, Olsen had a small role in the film “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, in which he portrayed a Strike Force member alongside Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson. The film is a sequel to 2007’s “Transformers”, continuing the story two years after the events of the original film. The film received mixed reviews as it lacked the same depth and appeal of the first film.

Despite that, the film was a success at the box office, making it one of the highest-earning that year.

Afterwards he continued with the stunt projects, working on “Community”, “True Blood”, and “Extant”. In 2010, he was hired to become a part of the stunt team for “NCIS: Los Angeles”. The show is a spin-off from “NCIS”, starring LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell. Due to his likeness to his brother Eric Christian Olsen who is a regular cast member of the show, he has done his stunts, performing as his double. His long tenure in the show has also led to a few guest appearances, playing mostly minor unnamed and uncredited characters.

Two other recent projects include “Swiss Army Man” and “The Nun”.

Wife – Daniela Ruah

Daniela was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and is of Jewish descent. Both her parents worked in the medical field, though they only spent a brief time in the US after her birth, eventually moving back to Portugal where she took up her education. During her time there, she developed a strong interest in acting which was supported by her parents. She trained in both dancing and acting, leading to her competing in a national dance competition. She then acted in various telenovelas.

Daniela Ruah

Wanting to expand her reach and skills further, she moved to the UK at 18 years of age to enroll at the London Metropolitan University, becoming a part of its performing arts program.

She also did work there in local productions, then after her studies, she moved to New York City, enrolling at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Her first project in the US after completing her education was a guest appearance in “Guiding Light”, and was later cast as a member of the team of “NCIS: Los Angeles”. The team first made their appearance in an introductory episode in “NCIS”, before the spin-off was officially launched in 2009.

The Success of Daniela Ruah

Ruah continued as a cast member of “NCIS: Los Angeles”, with many of its original cast members also still in the show; she plays the role of the only female Field Agent in the team. Her character is the daughter of a Marine, and spent some time in the streets during her youth after her father’s death, as she never really knew her mother. She often works as an undercover operative, and is also a skilled sniper. She isn’t afraid to use all of her tools at her disposal, even her sexuality. As the show progresses, she develops a romance with Marty Deeks, played by her husband’s brother, and the two married in season 10.

She also reprised her character in a crossover episode with “Hawaii Five-0”, which exists within the same universe. The police procedural show as the name denotes is set in Hawaii, also existing with other similar shows created by Peter M. Lenkov. Some of her recent projects include theatrical work, appearing in the play “Proof” which was staged in Los Angeles. She also appeared as the host of the “Eurovision Song Contest 2018”, joining Filomena Cautela, Silvia Alberto, and Catarina Furtado – the competition was held in Lisbon, Portugal that year.

Personal Life

David Paul met Daniela on the set of “NCIS: Los Angeles”, and the two began dating then. They had a child in 2013 which led to them get engaged, and they married the following year in Portugal, holding an interfaith marriage as Ruah is a Jew while Olsen is a Lutheran. They then had a second child two years later. Due to their work, the couple often makes efforts to organize workouts for the family to help keep them fit. Their children participate in some of these sessions, as seen in Ruah’s social media accounts.
