Emmanuel Macron is a French politician who has served as President of France since 2017. Ex officio, he is also one of the two Co-Princes of Andorra. He served as Minister of Economics, Industry, and Digital Affairs under President François Hollande between 2014 and 2016 before he became the president. Initially, he worked as a senior civil servant at the Inspectorate General of Finances and later became an investment banker at Rothschild & Co.

Macron was then appointed Élysée deputy secretary-general by President François Hollande shortly after his election in May 2012, making him one of Hollande’s senior advisers. He was next appointed to the Government of Prime Minister Manuel Valls as Minister of Economics, Industry, and Digital Affairs in August 2014. He had been a member of the Socialist Party from 2006 to 2009 and then he ran in the election under the banner of En Marche, a centrist and pro-European political movement he founded in April 2016.

Macron topped the ballot in the first round of voting before he was elected President of France on 7 May 2017 with 66.1% of the vote in the second round, defeating Marine Le Pen of the National Front. Emmanuel Macron was born on December 21, 1977, with the birth name, Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron. He is from is Amiens, Hauts-de-France, France. He holds French nationality. He is the son of his father, Jean-Michel Macron (Professor of Neurology at the University of Picardy), and his mother, Françoise Macron (née Noguès) (Physician). He has two siblings – Laurent Macron (Younger Brother) (Radiologist), and Estelle Macron (Younger Sister) (Nephrologist). • Emmanuel Macron, after graduating from ENA in 2004, became an inspector in the Inspection générale des finances (IGF), a branch of the Finance Ministry. In August 2007, Macron was appointed deputy rapporteur for Jacques Attali’s “Commission to Unleash French Growth”. 
• In 2008, he received an offer to work as an investment banker at “Rothschild & Cie Banque” and to the position. His first responsibility at Rothschild & Cie Banque was assisting with the acquisition of Cofidis by Crédit Mutuel Nord Europe. 
• Emmanuel had been a member of the Socialist Party since he was 24 but renewed his subscription to the party from only 2006 to 2009. He left the party in 2009 and became an independent politician.

However, following the chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun, Macron called for a possible military intervention against Assad’s regime.
• He opposed the ‘Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement’ (also known as the BDS Movement) coordinated by the Palestinian ‘BDS National Committee.’
• He founded an independent political party called ‘En Marche!’ in Amiens on 6 April 2016. He then resigned from his governmental position and voiced his intention to run for the 2017 French presidential election on November 2016. He promised to “unblock France” in his announcement speech and called for a “democratic revolution.” His bid was supported by many prominent political figures, including François Bayrou, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, François de Rugy, and Richard Ferrand.
• After the first round of the election on 23 April 2017, he won the second round of the presidential election on 7 May, conveniently beating Marine Le Pen of the National Front.
