Age, Early Life, and Education Background

Julia Karin Ormond hails from Epsom, Surrey United Kingdom, and was born under the Capricorn zodiac sign on 4 January 1965, which makes her 58 years old as of 2023. She was born to the stockbroker and computer software designer John Ormond and his wife, Josephine Ormond, who was a technician-laboratory assistant. Ormond was brought up alongside her four siblings in a well-off family, and spent most of her childhood in a luxury 20-room mansion, thanks to her father’s successful career. Sadly, her parents divorced when she was still young, but she used to visit her dad on Sundays.

Julia attended Guildford High School, where she took art classes. In 2016 and 2017, Ormond landed another main role as Elizabeth Krauss in the American sci-fi drama “Incorporated,” which premiered on Syfy on 30 November 2016. She went on to appear in the Amazon Prime Video series “Forever”, and BBC One miniseries “Gold Digger” in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Most recently in 2020 and 2021, Ormond starred as Elizabeth Kublek in 11 episodes of “The Walking Dead” spin-off entitled “The Walking Dead: World Beyond”, appearing alongside Alexa Mansour, Nico Tortorella, and Pollyanna McIntosh.

Film Appearances

In 1991, Ormond made her film debut with the role of Catherine in the drama “Young Catherine.” Two years later, she was cast in the historical drama “The Baby of Mâcon.” Julia portrayed Susannah in the 1994 Oscar-nominated war drama “Legends of the Fall”, and also played piano intro in the film, sharing the screen with Brad Pitt, Aidan Quinn and Anthony Hopkins in the Edward Zwick-directed film. Julia appeared in several other films in the decade, the most notable being the comedies “Sabrina” in 1995, “The Barber of Siberia” in 1998, and “Animal Farm” (voice role) in the year that followed.

In 2006, Julia was cast in the David Lynch-written and directed mystery “Inland Empire” and in the year that followed, she shared the screen with Brad Pitt again in the hit film “Mr. and Mrs Smith.” Some of her next notable appearances were in the biopic drama “Temple Grandin” in 2010, the sports film “Tour de Pharmacy” in 2017, and most recently in the New Zealand horror “Reunion” in 2020.

Humanitarian Efforts

Ormond began fighting human trafficking in the mid-‘90s and in 2006, she partnered with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to strengthen her cause. She is also a big supporter of the non-profit organization Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS, which raises awareness about HIV & AIDS in Ukraine and Russia.

Julia was appointed a UN Goodwill Ambassador in December 2005, responsible for raising awareness about modern forms of slavery and human trafficking, and in this capacity has served as counsel to the Committee on International Relations, the United States House of Representatives, and the Subcommittee on Africa. Julia is the founder of the Alliance to Stop Slavery and End Trafficking, widely known as ASSET.

Ormond owns the New York-based production company, Indican Production; she served as the executive producer of the award-winning documentary film “Calling the Ghosts: A Story about Rape, War, and Women.” Ormond was one of the jurors at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001. They also appeared together in the 1991 film “Young Catherine.” Sadly, their marriage was short-lived, ending in divorce in 1994. Julia later had brief affairs with several famous personalities including the Irish director and actor, Gabriel Byrne, and Brad Pitt.

Ormond married the political activist, Jon Rubin, in 1999. The couple welcomed a daughter named Sofie in 2004, but after nine years of togetherness they called it quits, and their divorce was finalized in 2008. Apparently Julia has been officially single since then.
