The Masterchef judge opened his first restaurant in Melbourne, The Press Club. Impressively, that was just the early sign of legacy he would carve as he established further outlets in Melbourne and Maha Bar in 2018. Likewise, in 2019, he replaced his old outlet, The Press Club, with a new one, Elektra.
George Calombaris fell in the Wage Underpayment Scandal
The Australian food expert, George Calombaris, faced an unfortunate controversy as he paid his staff way below the prescribed rate. The higher authorities disclosed that his MAdE establishment underpaid about $7.83 million wages to employees in July 2019.

Consequently, the great Aussie got further fame, but negatively this time. Surprisingly, the Hospitality Unions even wanted to sack him as their judge.

To recover his mistakes, he apologized to the public regarding the underpayment of a job. Despite the past mistakes he made, he stood up by accepting the full responsibility for the scandal and would do anything to prevent his workers from further hassles. Following the scandal, he paid 515 of his employees, a vast compensation of $7.83 million.
Calombaris Charged with Assault
The talented Chef, fell into yet another controversy in 2017, as he physically assaulted a 19-year-old boy at Allianz Stadium. He went to the stadium to watch the 2017 A-League Grand Final, where he shoved a spectator.
To be specific, the spectator annoyed him with offensive comments, which led to the uncalled behavior.
