Early life and family

Hogan was born in El Dorado, Arkansas in 1976, but the exact date of his birth is not known to the general public. Like many politicians, Hogan likes to keep personal information about himself close to his chest, so not much is known about his childhood and early life.

Educational background

Although nothing is really known about Hogan’s education, except that he studied at the University of Mississippi – Ole Miss. ‘People Pill’ reports that Hogan often talks about the university and displays pride at attending. Hogan has had a busy and extensive career, gaining experience in various campaigns. Before his political journey kicked off, Hogan was a reporter in Little Rock before he approached Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, pitching himself as a communications advisor.

He had a job at KAIT in Jonesboro as a television news reporter before his aspirations in politics took him in a different direction.

From 2000 until 2004, Hogan worked as a part of the gubernatorial staff of Huckabee. After that, he worked as one of South Carolina Governor David Beasley’s campaign advisors, and was then the executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party from 2006 until 2007, gaining much experience.

In 2008, Hogan once again worked with Huckabee, this time in communications for his presidential campaign. He also spent time as the executive director of Huck PAC, Huckabee’s leadership Political Action Committee.

In 2011, Hogan joined the consulting firm of Brabender Cox. His role was as a senior communications advisor, and he was assigned to head up Communications and Press Efforts for Rick Santorum’s 2012 presidential run.

He also worked as part of the Karen Floyd for Superintendent of Education campaign, and spent time on US Senator Elizabeth Dole’s campaign committee.

In 2017, it was announced that Hogan would serve as the Deputy Press Secretary for the Trump administration, and on October 11, he started his job at the White House.

It was after this that Hogan spoke about Donald Trump’s comments about Democrats not applauding him. They were called ‘treasonous’ by Trump after not applauding during his State of the Union address in 2018. Hogan said Trump was talking ‘tongue-in-cheek’.

A little while later, Hogan stated that the media and Democrats had created more chaos in America than the Russian government. This was after a number of Russians were indicted for election interference after Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation.

In 2019, Hogan was considered as a candidate to be the White House Press Secretary after Sarah Sanders stated that she would step down from the role.

However, he missed out when Stephanie Grisham was chosen for the role – Hogan remained the Deputy Press Secretary.

It was reported that he loved talking about exercise and diet. According to journalist Mark Leibovich, Hogan weighs himself every day, working out five times a week, and concentratings on a different body part with each workout.

He is not a stranger to criticism. Like many politicians, he is watched closely and every action is scrutinised. When Hogan shared Instagram posts of himself playing golf while visiting the UK with President Trump, he was criticised. Many people were unimpressed and accused Hogan of spending American taxpayers’ money.

He has a Labrador Retriever named Toddy – named after the Ole Miss fight song – Mike Huckabee gave Hogan the pooch.
