Who is Jon Taffer?

American entrepreneur and TV personality Jonathan Peter ‘Jon’ Taffer was born in Great Neck, New York State USA, on 7 November 1954, making Scorpio his zodiac sign. He’s known for a couple of things, including for hosting the reality show “Bar Rescue”, while he’s probably known best for conceptualizing the sports package NFL Sunday Ticket which broadcasts National Football League (NFL) games that aren’t available on local affiliates; the program was launched on DirecTV on 4 September 1994, and will switch to YouTube TV in September 2023.

Education and early life

Jon was raised in Great Neck by his mother Yvette Taffer and father whose name remains undisclosed; he hasn’t shared many details about his parents, nor has he spoken about having siblings, which is why Jon’s believed to be an only child.

He studied at William A. Shine Great Neck South High School, and was mostly into sports during his time there, especially football. Jon matriculated in 1972, and then enrolled at the University of Denver, then transferred to a college in Los Angeles, California from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1976.

Jon’s career

Jon began working as a bartender at Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood in 1973, wanting to financially support himself while attending college; he was also a drummer in a local band at the same time.

He became the manager of the West Hollywood nightclub The Troubadour in 1978, and was given full control over it in 1981; this motivated Jon to become a bar owner, and he opened his first in 1989, while the same year saw him patent a method and an apparatus for selecting and playing music.

The programming package NFL Sunday Ticket was launched in 1994, and Jon played an important role in its distribution and marketing, thus spending three years on the board of NFL Enterprises.

The year 2010 saw him appointed the president of the Nightclub and Bar Media Group, and then inducted into the Nightclub Hall of Fame.

He published his first book “Raise the Bar: An Action-Based Method for Maximum Customer Reactions” in October 2013, in collaboration with author Karen Kelly.

Jon developed the nightclub management app BarHQ in November 2014.

He became the host of CBS series “Face the Truth” in 2018, and in 2019 hosted the reality show “Marriage Rescue”, in which he tried to help save 12 couples’ marriages and relationships.

Jon’s today hosting his own podcast “No Excuses”, in which he’s interviewing celebrities and talking about current events in sports and politics.

TV shows

Jon’s probably known best for producing and starring in all the 242 episodes of the reality show “Bar Rescue”, created by Darrin Reed, and which also stars P. J. King and Mia Mastroianni. It’s been airing since 2011, follows Jon and his team of experts as they’re helping bar owners save their failing establishments, and the show’s been nominated for three awards.

Some of Jon’s recent talk-show appearances have been in “Jesse Watters Primetime”, “Fox News Live” and “Gutfeld!”

YouTube channel

Jon’s YouTube channel “Bar Rescue” was launched on 3 February 2021, and it’s today subscribed to by more than 420,000 people, while all of his videos combined have been watched nearly 450 million times; most of these are scenes taken from his reality show “Bar Rescue”, and we’re about to cover Jon’s three most watched YouTube videos, as these have contributed to his popularity on the internet.

His #1 video “Most Jaw-Dropping Recon Discoveries | Bar Rescue” has been watched more than 7.2 million times since 12 August 2020, and covers Jon’s most horrible discoveries since he began hosting the show “Bar Rescue”.

His second most popular video “4 Times Jon Taffer Walked Out (Compilation) | Bar Rescue” has been viewed over 7.2 million time since 12 July 2019, and covers four bars which Jon gave up on trying to fix.

His #3 video “The WORST Bartenders of Bar Rescue Season 6” has been viewed nearly six million times since 25 July 2020, and covers some of the worst bartenders whom Jon’s met while starring in the show “Bar Rescue”.

Love life and wife

Jon prefers to keep the details of his love life to himself, but it’s still widely known that he’s been married to American TV personality and social media star Nicole since 4 April 2000; she’s today starring alongside him in the reality show “Bar Rescue”, and usually visits the bars first to see whether or not Jon should be helping its owners.

This is Jon’s second marriage, but he hasn’t spoken about his former wife in public, and her name and profession thus remain undisclosed; he hasn’t shared the dates of their wedding and divorce either, although it’s believed that their divorce was finalized in 1998, and it’s only known that he has a daughter Samantha from the marriage.

Jon’s married to his second wife Nicole as of April 2023, and has a daughter with his first wife.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Jon’s interested in politics, and in 2021 compared the US citizens receiving temporary unemployment benefits during the coronavirus pandemic to dogs which are being kept hungry so that they would be obedient; he eventually apologized for the statement. Jon also praised former US President Donald Trump’s economic policy, while he’s against the rise of minimum wage, believing that it will eventually lead to technology replacing restaurant workers.

Jon’s highly active on Instagram, as he’s posted close to 1,600 pictures onto the network, while he’s today followed by close to 400,000 people; he’s been active on Twitter since September 2010, has tweeted over 32,000 times, and today has more than 250,000 followers.

Jon’s a huge fan of American actor and musician John Christopher ‘Johnny’ Depp II, and some of his favorite movies are the franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Alice in Wonderland”.

Jon’s age is 68. He has brown hair and eyes, is 6ft 2ins (1.88m) tall, and weighs around 200lbs (92kgs).
