Early life and education
Evelyn was raised a single child in the Bay Region by her parents who are both Russian Jews, and had an opportunity to travel around the world even before becoming a teenager. She visited several European countries such as England, France and Russia, while she also travelled to Asia and South America.
As her parents have relatives in many countries, Evelyn got to live in France, England and Israel for some time while she was growing up. The first language she began studying was Russian, and then English and French, later adding Hebrew to the list.

Evelyn simultaneously worked for KION, another CBS affiliate, and then joined KRON 4 based in San Francisco.
