Childhood and education
JackSepticEye was raised as an only child in Ireland by his parents, whom he hasn’t shared details of, but who are believed to be working in the medical field.
He grew up being interested in sports, mostly playing soccer, and after he hurt his eye during a game and it started leaking strange fluid, his friends started calling him ‘Jack Septic Eye’ which stuck with him, and eventually became his nickname in video games.
JackSepticEye attended a local high school at which he continued to play soccer, and was also a member of the school’s band. Upon matriculation in 2008, he enrolled at a college to study music technology, but soon dropped out to enrol at another college to study hotel management – it isn’t known whether or not he graduated.
During his freshman year at his first college, he was a member of the heavy metal band Raised to the Ground; they released their one and only extended play, “Risen from the Ashes” in 2009.
JackSepticEye launched his eponymous YouTube channel on 24 February 2007, but didn’t start uploading videos until five years later.
Today it’s subscribed to by more than 25.7 million people, and numbers over 13 billion views of all his videos combined. He mostly uploads videos which feature himself playing various games and commenting on them – he’s known for his sense of humor and for trying to make his fans laugh. JackSepticEye’s two most popular videos are “ALL THE WAY – Jacksepticeye Songify Remix by Schmoyoho” as it has been watched close to 92 million times since 22 July 2016, and “Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Animation | Jacksepticeye Animated”, viewed more than 71 million times since 5 May 2015.
He is also quite active on Twitch, launching his channel on 10 June 2013.
The channel today numbers 1.7 million followers, and an average of 15,180 viewers per livestream – JackSepticEye has so far spent 541 hours livestreaming, with his highest recorded number of concurrent viewers being 58,153, while his total number of views is over 7.5 million. He mostly plays games such as “Fortnite: Battle Royale”, “Among Us” and “Apex Legends”, but occasionally just chats with his fans – JackSepticEye’s channel is the 96th most popular on Twitch.

Controversy regarding the YouTuber PewDiePie
JackSepticEye co-starred alongside PewDiePie in the second season of the YouTube show “Scare PewDiePie”, however, it was cancelled before it went to air because PewDiePie was accused of being anti-Semitic. JackSepticEye addressed the matter, stating that he supports him but not his actions, and that PewDiePie could’ve been more apologetic and pay more attention to his actions – JackSepticEye apologized the following day for criticizing PewDiePie, and it appears that the two are still very good friends.
Love life and girlfriend
JackSepticEye is more or less secretive when it comes to his love life, but it’s known that he dated the Danish social media star Signe Hansen from 2015 to 2018. They met on the internet, and eventually dated, then after several months moved in together in Brighton, England. After three years of dating they announced on their social media accounts that they had separated, and that it wasn’t easy for either of them.
In March 2019, JackSepticEye confirmed that he started dating GirlGamerGab (also known as Gab Smolders and whose real name is Evelien Smolders), a YouTuber and social media star who had divorced her first husband a year prior.
The two appear to be very happy together, as JackSepticEye often tweets about his girlfriend, writing things such as ‘She’s filled me with so much confidence and love for myself. If you’ve seen me smile a lot more lately, it’s because of her!’ and ‘‘Just want to say that @GirlGamerGab is the best thing that’s happened to me in a while!’

JackSepticEye is a huge lover of animals, with his favorites being cats, and he has a pet cat which can often be seen featured in his pictures on Instagram.
He is interested in movies, and one of his favorite actors is Ryan Reynolds, while JackSepticEye has recently had an opportunity to shoot a scene for the upcoming movie “Free Guy”, which stars Ryan. He is also a fan of Johnny Depp and Tom Hanks, and a couple of his favorite films are the franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Sleepless in Seattle” and “The Terminal”.
He is physically quite active, as he has four to five training sessions each week at his personal gym, and he’s also following a strict diet, thus his muscular body.
JackSepticEye likes to travel, and has been to many European and Asian countries as well as to many US states, mostly to attend gaming and social media related events.
He is a philanthropist , and with the help of other famous YouTubers, has helped raise around $1.3 million to be donated to the research of AIDS. He has worked with various charity organizations such as Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Save The Children. To this day, JackSepticEye has helped raise over $4.6 million to be donated to charity.
