Early life and Education

Jason Michael Gedroic was born on 7 February 1965, in Chicago, Illinois USA, in Cook County Hospital, of part-Polish descent. He has two older siblings, a brother named Joel Gedroic and a sister Dawne Gedroic.

The family spent their early years in Mount Prospect suburbs, but he moved to the Uptown neighborhood sometime later after his parents divorced, and he was left in the custody of his mother, while his siblings remained with their father.

Gedrick attended the Roman Catholic Gordon Technical High School in Chicago, matriculating in 1982. Afterward, he enrolled at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and studied business as this was his parent’s wish. However, as he had undiagnosed dyslexia, he found it very hard to concentrate, and completed his freshman year only with the help of his then-girlfriend.

However, he dropped out soon after, and moved to Hollywood, California to focus on his acting career. And where he Anglicized his surname to Gedrick.

Career

Gedrick acted in a few feature films in the early 1980s, such as “Bad Boys” and “Risky Business”, but his appearances were minor. It was in 1985 when he finally had a few more noticeable roles in the movies “The Zoo Gang”, “The Heavenly Kid” and “Iron Eagle”. In 1987, he starred as Hancock in Michael Hoffman’s drama film “Promised Land”, opposite Kiefer Sutherland and Meg Ryan.

In 1989 he appeared in a few notable films, including “Rooftops” in which he starred, “Deadly Nightmares” starring Page Fletcher and Nicholas Campbell, as well as “Born on the Fourth of July”, opposite Tom Cruise, Bryan Larkin and Raymond J. Barry.

In 1993, he starred in the TV drama series “Class of ‘96”, but the show was canceled after the first season. In 1986, Gedrick was dating fellow actress Daphne Zuniga, who is best known for her work on “Spaceballs”, “The Sure Thing” and “Melrose Place”, however. this relationship didn’t last long.
