He announced his retirement in 2018 and joined Monday Night Football as a lead analyst. After that, in 2019, he returned to the Cowboys and signed a one-year contract with a $4.5 million deal.

In 2020, he signed a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raider and then retired returning to the Cowboys signing a one-day contract to retire as a Cowboys. The NFL player was born on 6 May 1982, as Christopher Jason Witten under the zodiac sign, Taurus. He was born as the son of his parents Ed Witten and Kimberly Witten Barnett in Washington, D.C. USA. His father became abusive towards the family after he was indicted on drugs and alcohol. So, at the age of 11, he moved to live with his grandparents in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He has two older brothers: Ryan and Shawn as well as grew up with his cousin Triston Witten too.

After moving to Tennessee, he attended Elizabethton High School where he played on the school team as a two-way player linebacker and tight end. Also, his grandfather Dave Rider was the coach of the football team where he played. During his high school, he was recognized with East Tennessee Player of the Year and Region Defensive Player of the Year, and runner-up for the Mr. Football award.

College & Professional Career:

He was then accepted at the University of Tennessee with a sports scholarship in 2000. In his first year, he played with special teams as a defensive end. However, he decided to enter NFL Draft in his junior year. After that, Dallas Cowboys in the 2003 NFL Draft in the third round with 69th overall pick. Additionally, in 2017, his college introduced The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award honors a player who shows strong leadership qualities on and off the field.

He made his NFL debut against Atlanta Falcons in September 2003 gaining one reception for 13 yards. In the same year, he injured his jawbone against the match with Arizona Cardinals and had to undergo surgery. Therefore, for his hardship in the season, he was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team for the 2003 season. He played with the team until 2017 achieving a great name and fame. Later, he announced his initial retirement in 2018.

Following his retirement news, he accepted the position of color analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football telecast. However, he returned to Dallas Cowboys with a one-year deal in February 2019. He then traded to Las Vegas Raiders for a one-year deal and retired on 27 January 2021 as a Cowboys after signing a one-day contract. Just days after his retirement, he became the head football coach at Liberty Christian School in Texas.

The successful football player is a happily married man and is devoted to his wife and family. Further, he has married his high school sweetheart Michelle Witten. Moreover, his wife works as an emergency nurse at Dallas’ Parkland Memorial Hospital.
