Early life, family and education

Joyjah was raised an only child in Belize by her father who was a fisherman, and her mother who was a housewife. She became interested in modelling at a very early age after her parents and her closest friends kept telling her how beautiful she was. Joyjah was first noticed by a modelling scout while still in high school, but her parents wouldn’t allow her to start modelling until she matriculated, however, as Joyjah continued to focus on her education, she enrolled at the University of Belize in 2012 from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2015.

Career as a social media star

Joyjah is spending most of her time taking pictures for her Instagram account, but she is also running her YouTube channel which she launched on 18 March 2016, and is currently subscribed to by nearly 150,000 people, while it counts nearly four million views of all her videos combined. In her videos, Joyjah gives advice on how to do make-up and dressing-up, as well as on exercising and dieting.
