Kara recently lost her co-worker and also a good friend Denise D’Ascenzo. Denise used work as a news anchor at Channel 3 NewsNetwork along with Kara. After the unfortunate death of Denise on 8 December of 2019, Kara gave a tribute to her former friend with am Instagram and Twitter post.

First, Kara shared a picture of Denise on her Instagram account and then on the Twitter account. Later, she also shared a post explaining the favorite color of Denise, which was coral. Further, she also shared that the whole team of the WFSB channel will wear coral lapel pins in the memory of Denise. Later, Kara won the case, and the governer/her father paid her. Then in the following years, Kara took the name of her father after reuniting with him. In an interview, she shared,

Since no one knew about me, our very public union was covered on evening news, in the New York Times, People Magazine.

She added saying,

Back then, we decided to step away from the spotlight to build a real father-daughter relationship. And I learned forgiveness is the magic that allows us to transform our lives, no matter where we come from.

Kara also explained that her father was coming from fear, whereas she was coming from love. It’s the love between them, which helped in their reunion.
