Also a businessman, Ken was one of the co-founders of DC Shoes. After selling his ownership of DC Shoes, he shifted his business focus to Hoonigan Industries, an apparel brand for auto enthusiasts. He was the co-owner and “Head Hoonigan In Charge” (HHIC) at the company before his death. In January 2021, Hoonigan Racing Division and Ford Performance announced that they were parting ways after 11 years. Sadly, Ken Block died at age 55 in a snowmobile accident near his ranch in Woodland, Utah, on January 2, 2023.

Ken Block died at age 55 on January 2, 2023, in a snowmobile accident near his ranch in Woodland, Utah. The Wasatch County sheriff’s department reported that Block had been riding in the Mill Hollow area when his snowmobile upended on a steep slope and landed on top of him. He was declared dead at the scene of the accident due to injuries which was his death cause. 

His rally team has confirmed the sudden death of Ken Block in a statement. “It’s with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today,” a statement posted to Instagram read. “Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And, most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed. Please respect the family’s privacy at this time while they grieve.”

Block started riding on a steep slope in the Mill Hollow area outside Woodland, Utah, at around 2:00 pm when his snowmobile “upended, landing on top of him,” the sources reported.

Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office confirmed his death in a statement, adding: “We are saddened to hear of the loss of Kenneth and our hearts are with his family and friends so deeply affected. “We thank all of our first responders for their continued service.” The state’s medical examiner will now work to determine the exact cause of death.
