Louis Hynes is a British actor, who rose to prominence through his role in the web television adaptation of the movie with the same title, “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” streamed on Netflix.

Early Life and Family

Louis Oliver Hynes was born on 9 October 2001, in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, the middle child to parents Andrew Hynes and Lisa Hynes. Louis, his older brother Milo, and younger sister Lara, enjoyed a close relationship as they were raised in a middle class household by their parents just outside of Oxford. They would often tend to themselves with the older ones taking care of the younger ones while their parents were both busy with work. His father works at a bank and his mother at a cleaning company.

It was his older brother who grew up interested in acting, and Louis was just influenced by him. He started to practice acting in front of the mirror when he was seven years old, and as he grew older he also developed an interest in music, and learned to play the bass guitar.

Education

He matriculated from a local high school in 2019, and has said that he plans to enter a university as soon as possible.

Career

Louis started his professional acting career in theatre at Garsington Opera in Wormsley in 2015. It was for the stage play, “Intermezzo,” which is often regarded as the famed German composer Richard Strauss’ autobiography.

He played the role of Strauss’ son, Franzi, who blamed his mother for the absence of his father in his life. His highly praised performance brought him to the notice of other producers and directors.

In 2016, he was chosen to play the young Alaric in the American documentary drama called “Barbarians Rising”, aired on ghe History Channel. He only played the part for two episodes, but his talent was evident that industry insiders knew his star would soon shine brighter.

His excitement couldn’t be contained back then, as captured in the throwback photo he posted in 2018 of his first day on a film set, which coincided with his 14th birthday; it was credited as his television debut.

The following year he was in “The Saint” movie adaptation of the TV series with the same title that was shown in the 1960’s. Louis played the role of the young Simon Templar, who was the titular character of the movie. It was supposed to premiere as a television series, but due to unforeseen circumstances, was released as direct-to-video and later available on streaming sites.

It didn’t take long before he was given the role of Klaus Baudelaire, the middle child orphan of the Baudelaire family, in the popular children’s novel, “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” The web TV series adaptation premiered in January 2017 on the Netflix streaming site. It gained positive reviews not only for the production and writing, but also for the performance of the cast which includes Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, Malina Weissman as Valerie Baudelaire, and Presley Smith as Sunny Baudelaire. The web TV series lasted for three seasons.

In 2020, before the global pandemic Covid19 restrictions were put in place, he was part of the American satirical period drama comedy series, “The Great.” He has a recurring role as Vlad, with Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great and Nicholas Hoult as Peter III of Russia. The first season was released in May on Hulu streaming site, and was gearing up for the second season but due to the Corona Virus deadly toll on a massive scale, filming was halted.

To stay relevant and continue connecting with his fans, Louis started a weekly podcast entitled “Louis’ Lockdown Lowdown” in April of 2020, and had celebrity guests on the show including rumored girlfriend Amybeth McNulty, along with blogger-entertainer Luke Cutforth, singer-songwriter Declan McKenna, and actress Elle Fanning.

Personal Life

He is officially known to be currently single, as there had been no news about him being married or engaged.
