Marquese’s professional career started on March 23, 2016, when he was drafted for the 2016 NBA draft. At first, he was picked in the draft by the Sacramento Kings, however, he was later traded to Phonix Suns.

Chiss played for two seasons; 2016-17 and 2017-18 for Phonix Suns. Further, he earned a total of $2.94 million from the first season whereas $3.07 million from the second season. During his time in the team, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
