Martin Boyle Club Career

  • He started his career with Montrose where he made his debut for the club on 6 February 2010 in a 5-1 loss against Hibernian in a 2009-10 Scottish Cup, at the age of 16.  He was the top scorer for the Montrose U17 team in season 2009-10 and also finished 2010-11 as the top scorer in the U19 side.
  • He signed a senior contract in August 2010 and scored his first goal for the first team on 25 September 2010 in an 8-1 win against Clyde FC. In his first season, he made 28 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist in all the competitions.
  • On 5 May 2012, he scored his first hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Clyde. During his 2011-12 season, he made 41 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals and providing 7 assists in all the competitions as he received an award for scoring the most goals in the Scottish Football League. 
  • In the summer of 2012, he trained with Aberdeen but returned for pre-season training with Montrose, playing in their 2-0 defeat to Stenhousemuir on 7 July.   • On 25 January 2013, he signed for his former club Montrose on loan for the rest of the season and made his second debut for the club on 26 January 2013 in a 1-1 draw against Rangers. On 2 February 2013, he scored his first goal since returning to Montrose in a 4-1 win over East Stirlingshire. On 23 February he scored four goals in a 5-1 win over Annan Athletic.
