Early life and education

Martin was raised an only child in North Delta by his father who was a taxi driver, and his mother who was a housewife.

He grew up being very sporting, and dreamt about becoming a football star – he played for his Seaquam Secondary School’s team before he became interested in acting, and decided not to focus on sports. He went on to attend the Vancouver Actors Studio where he was taught by famous Canadian theatre actor Mel Tuck. Martin matriculated in 1987, and then focused on his acting career rather than pursuing a college degree.

Martin has been credited with appearing in around 85 movies and TV series, and we are going to mention a couple of his most notable performances in this article.

Martin’s first notable performance was in 1989 when he portrayed Wayne Webber in the slasher movie “Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan”, written and directed by Rob Hedden, and which starred Jensen Daggett, Kane Hodder and Todd Caldecott – the story follows several students who have just matriculated and are on their way to Manhattan with Jason Voorhees. He went on to portray the supporting character Matthew Carter in the Canadian drama “Love Come Down” in 2000, which starred Larenz Tate and follows a comedian who had enter a drug rehabilitation centre after becoming addicted to drugs.

In 2002 he played one of the lead characters Russell Williams in the crime thriller film “Liberty Stands Still” which starred Wesley Snipes and Linda Fiorentino, and although the movie gained recognition after being shown at Palm Springs International Film Festival, it failed to attract much audience attention. The year 2004 saw Martin portray the lead character Vaughn in the Canadian movie “Ice Men”, which also starred David Hewelett and James Thomas and was popular among gay and lesbian people. The following years saw Martin guest star in a single episode of numerous series such as the action adventure fantasy “Highlander” in 1994, the fantasy horror drama “The Outer Limits” in 1999, and the science fiction action drama “Level 9” in 2000.

Two of Martin’s latest appearances in TV series have been in the romantic drama “When Calls the Heat”, in which he starred as Brian Herrimann alongside Erin Krakow and Pascale Hutton, and the romantic science fiction drama “Away” which starred Hilary Swank, Josh Charles and Vivian Wu, and is about an astronaut who is struggling with leaving her man and their daughter as she is about to go into space.

Brandy gave birth to their son not long after they married, but the two eventually divorced in 2004 for unknown reasons.

Martin went on to marry Christine Wallace, a famous American actress, biographer and political journalist, on 12 July 2013, and the two have since been leading a seemingly happy life together at their home in Los Angeles.

Martin hasn’t talked about any other women he might have been with before meeting Brandy and before he met Christine, however, several sources – including Wikipedia – claim that Martin has four children, including twin girls whose mother is Christine.
